Yaaaaay!!! I love quizzes!!!! Already have a glass of water (my favorite beverage!) and am ready to roll!!!
1. Well, I’m a full time student, though I recently took a teaching job, teaching English for teenagers. It’s only one class, and I kinda said yes only because a) they’d be asking for ME for like a year, calling my home and offering me a job and b) it was the same time as my brother’s class and I’d have to drop him off and pick him up, so, I might as well just stay there and do something, right?
Hobbies, I like reading, writing, watching tv, going to the MALL! Going out to eat and especially hanging out with baby sister. And I live in BRAZIL!
2. Pretty much everyone calls me Barbie, it comes from my name, which is Barbara, and I go by it, yeah. But, here, on TGB, I’m just B
3. None, I just had M&Ms and I’m real full and good!
4. Oh, wow. That’s such a hard question, because I’m definitely a re-re-re-re watcher. I don’t think I can answer that. Probably The Sound of Music, more out of loyalty than anything. I’ve watched literally 1000 in my whole life. But how could I go without Stardust? Enchanted? A Lot Like Love? AAAAHHHHH!
5. It really, really depends. I go through periods in which I read A LOT. Like, 10, 12 hours a day. Others, like now, I can’t focus. I haven’t read in months. I’m going through a really hard time with focusing and I just can’t
And, nope, everyone in my life’s a reader I guess, no one teases.
6. Actually, there’s this car in Brazil, it’s a Citroen called C4 Pallas that I really like. Simple, right? Otherwise, if you watch Private Practice, man, Charlotte’s red BMW is awesome! I’d dig that!
7. Ever had that sentence that goes like: “I’m actually not funny, I’m just really mean and people think I’m joking.”? Something like that. I have a dark, twisted sense of humor
8. Umm… books. I didn’t even blink. One of my best friends in the world lives very far away in the US, and without the internet we wouldn’t be able to connect like that. She’s more important than any book out there. (And other friends, too, of course!). I’d be giving up more than the internet itself.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:06 am.
B, I’m a re-watcher, too! And I especially like owning series on dvd so I can watch them whole season back-to-back.
Btw, who do you think that man on a motorcycle in Once Upon A time may be? And do you think he changed Henry’s book before he put it back in the box? So many mysteries!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:21 am.
I think he’s the writer of the book!!!! And that he ADDED to it! I think he’s a weirdo, but a goodish guy!!!
OUAT’s pretty cool, huh???
Rewatching tv shows back to back’s the back! I jist did Criminal Minds
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:14 pm.
I thunk he’s the big bad wolf
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:05 pm.
I think if he was we’d've seen him interacting with Ruby at some point.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:20 pm.
I’m perplexed. He’s a book maker or … I have no idea. They said there’s going to be a Mad Hatter in a coming episode. That’ll be interesting. I wonder who is Alice?
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:36 pm.
I have no idea who’ll play Alice, all I know is that it’s episode 17 (this last week was 13, and that Sebastian Stan will be the Mad Hatter!)
Posted on February 24, 2012 at 12:57 am.
Now it’s your turn, Karen! Waiting for your answers!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:07 am.
Lol! Will do!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:22 am.
1. I am a full time uni student and I am also chief cook and bottle washer at my new place. It is taking me a while to repair the neglect that my house mate has done for a number of months. My hobbies involve yelling at the tv, reading, quilting, sleeping and crocheting.
2. I usually get Kell but I was called Vinegar Tits by my grandmother and Bookie by a girl I knew in primary school.
3. I’m not really craving anything at the moment but I could enjoy some Skittles and Reeses Peanut Butter cups or some Chex Mix. (Sherri Browning Erwin has gotten me hooked on them).
4. That would be impossible for me to choose because I love the movies that I have but if I were to choose it would be one that has all of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals on it.
5. I read anything up to 12 – 14 hours a day.
6. I am not overly concerned about cars but I would love to own Herbie the Love Bug.
7. My sense of humour is odd. It is hard to describe how I can find movies that would leave other people freaking out as funny but I do.
8. I could not do either because I get positively mean and evil without a book and if I were to go without the Internet I would go through withdrawals (which I did when I moved into here).
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 6:36 am.
Oh, I live in Queensland Australia btw.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 7:49 am.
I had to laugh at your grandmother’s nickname for you. She must have been quite a character!
Btw, I took my daughter to see Phantom of the Opera when she was eight and could/can sing every song from that day onward. She’s still a huge fan.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:25 am.
She was, she has been gone for 28 years this year (I think).
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:52 am.
1. when i am not hanging out here, I am usually answering 911 calls, or taking care of my elderly parents, husband, kids, 6 cats, dog, and pretty much any other creature that manages to fond its way to my door. Hobbies include the obvious of reading, also crossstitch and reality tv.
2. No nickname, or at least people dont say it to my face…
3. Beef vegetable soup…I have the flu…
4. Charlie and the chocolate factory or the wizard of oz. Probably Charlie and the chocolate factory but it would have to be the original version – not that i dont love johnny depp, its just gene wilder was way creepier
5. I dont leave home without my kindle fully loaded…if i s to hazard a guestimate, it would probably be close to 100 hours a week….needless to say, I have to read both a mix of fiction and non-fiction…yup, those superdry textbooks that you swear nobody ever checks out of the library…
6. Dodge charger…totally impractical
7. Dark…very, very dark.
8. The internet, no question.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 6:45 am.
Wendy, you answer 911 calls? From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. I appreciate our emergency program so much, from the dispatchers to the EMTs and the rest.
Which version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory do you like? They’re very different, aren’t they?
Btw, I like a dark sense of humor. I have one, too.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:36 am.
Wow, I’m not sure I could handle answering 911 calls. I’m so glad, though, that strong people like you perform this service for the rest of us! Thank you!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:39 am.
1. I am a horticulturalist, and manage a twelve acre ornamental tree and shrub nursery. When I am not there I am at home writing, and reading, and writing, and writing for my blog;)
2. I had several nicknames that my older brothers gave me, but none of them were nice. My oldest friend calls me ‘Bette’ as in Bette Midler. She is the only one that calls me that. Oh and Kellkye. My mom calls me that all the time.
3. I am craving chocolate. Yes I gave up most of my sugars, but chocolate still haunts me!
4. One movie….hmmm. I can’t name one.
5. I would say I normally read at least ten hours a week. Lately though, about fifteen minutes a day (during dinner!)
6. Unlimited funds? Probably a Lamborghini, although a nice yacht would be nice!
7. My sense of humor is catchy. I was named class clown in high school, so I know I have one! I just can’t find the right words to describe it at the moment…how about
Ellen-ish!
8. I couldn’t give up either! Okay, I’d give up books. No internet, yea, internet. I like reading as an escape, and too often the internet is not an escape for me.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 6:56 am.
A horticulturist!!! That’s one of the careers I would love if I didn’t write novels
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:31 am.
I would love to be a horticulturalist but I have sadly accepted that I could never be one. I have a black thumb and loooooove/waaaaaaant desperately for my plants to grow, but only the hardiest make it through my attentions. Still, I keep trying.
And I’d describe Ellen’s sense of humor (she’s amazing, isn’t she?) as impish. I love that woman!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:43 am.
You can come and work with me for a couple of days if you ever get tired of writing!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:46 am.
I’d love that! I need some horticultural lessons before I kill another green thing and get arrested by the Plant Police. ACK!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:01 pm.
Okay, if either of you are ever in the Charlotte, NC area, Holla!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:11 pm.
1. I live in NW Montana – I love to read
2. My aunt calls me Louigi. I never asked her where she got the name. I suspect from my middle name of Louise.
3. Egg salad sandwich
4. The Cutting Edge (about ice skating)
5. Hard to tell, when I’m not job hunting or stalking my favorite authors on their FB pages, I’m reading.
6. I would upgrade my 1992 Explorer by 10 years so it would still be eligible for permenant license plates. Hopefully unlimited funding includes full coverage insurance.
7. Not sure – I do not find most comedians funny.
8. Rather give up the internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 7:04 am.
Tina, now I’m going to crave an egg salad sandwich for the rest of the day. Yummy!
I’ve never heard of The Cutting Edge. I’m going to see if I can find it on Netflix and watch it.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:45 am.
Oh, I *love* The Cutting Edge! I bought it on DVD, and watch it a few times a year. “Tooooe pick!” Hahaha….
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:50 am.
The cutting edge is so hot.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:54 pm.
1. I live in Orlando Florida and i love to read.
2. I don’t have a nickname.
3. Hamburgers.
4. Practical Magic. Bought the dvd twice without realizing it.
5. I read a book a day. Don’t know how many hours that adds up to but my family just doesn’t get my reading or the need to own so many books.
6. Some kind of mid-size SUV so that I have enough room to travel with my furbabies.
7. I would give up the internet in a heartbeat and not even think about it.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 7:19 am.
LOL, Aida! I’ve done that, bought the same DVD multiple times. I just saved the second copy until I needed a quick gift… and it was a gift I could give proudly because hey, it was a movie I loved!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:41 am.
Aida, I’m an Olandian, too. I love this city.
Btw, if you want a spectacular burger (it’s a bit expensive — $10 but it comes with truffle fries), try Jack’s Steakhouse in Baldwin Park. Ah-Ma-Zing burgers.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:50 am.
1. Work: recently became president of the US branch of European clothing company that specializes in amazing legwear, in NYC.
2. My family calls me Chelle and Shelby; in the early 90s, my friend gave me a “rap name” as a joke, it stuck: Fresh E. Chelle
3. Food craving? Toothpaste. I just woke up.
4. The Philadelphia Story. I can’t get enough of “I’m standing here on my own two hands slowly going out of my mind”
5. Reading time? Not nearly enough. Being President Pantyhose is chewing into my free time.
6. A 2 door Mercedes convertible with manual transmission that runs on starlight and dreams.
7. I’d like to think it’s clever but too often it’s just silly. I love an obscure reference.
8.Books or the internet? What kind of question is that? It’s not even 7am and I’ve got to make a Sophie’s Choice. I can’t. The ‘net is where I socialize with my book friends.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 7:56 am.
Ooh Fresh, congratulations on becoming president! That is very cool!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:16 am.
Ha Ha Fresh, I agree, no Sophie’s choice this early.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:58 am.
Congrats on becoming Pres!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:07 am.
Congratulations on your promotion/new job! What is the name of your company, and where can we buy this amazing legwear?
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:42 am.
Congrats (again) on the big promo! And I like the nomer “President Pantyhose.” I hope you have the engraved on your door plaque.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:06 am.
Hey yeah, I second that – where can we buy this amazing legwear? I need some new stockings! Oh, and congrats!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:51 pm.
Congratulations Fresh!!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 2:20 pm.
Lol @ toothpaste. Wish more people craved that!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:19 pm.
Thanks for the kind words, TGB friends!
The brand is Wolford, it’s all about knits so everything is super comfortable especially our version of Spanx – much more wearable then them.
Archer, sorry that toothpaste isn’t valued in your part of the world
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:27 pm.
1. I read as much as I can in my very limited spare time. I work for the federal government as an international evironmental maritime policy specialist. yeah, i don’t really know what that is either.
Other than reading, I don’t have any real hobbies and don’t watch much TV. my daughter is in a dance company and that takes up most of my time.
2. no nicknames.
3. i’m drinking coffee and not even thinking about food…yet.
4. The Hangover. Bradley Cooper shirtless…yum.
5. I don’t know how many hours. I commute and hour each way into DC three times a week and usually stay up after everyone has gone to bed to read. I try to read 3-5 books per week (it doesn’t always happen).
6. I’d drive a BMW. that’s my dream car. We had a boat years ago and it’s alot of work. Now I just try to have a friend with a boat.
7. Sarcastic.
8.Internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:25 am.
Wow! kris, whatever that title means, it’s impressive. And I hear you on the The Hangover. I’ll could take a Bradley Cooper shirtless dvd to any desert island on the planet and be totally satisfied. Good choice!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:16 am.
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in? Work in the middle of a corn field in SW Ohio. I enjoy quilting and basketweaving. Reading is like breathing, necessary to live.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? Never had a nickname as my name can be shortened and that is what they use. I go by any variation of it although my Mother is the only one who uses the “sy” at the end.
3. What food are you craving right now? Blueberries.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? Pick one? You might as well ask me to pick one book! A&E version of P&P, While You Were Sleeping or The Dish.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) 2-3 hours every day and yes, I am often reminded there is a reality. DH watches MSNBC each night and I read to ignore the talking heads!
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive? Don’t care about vehicles they only get me to and from work. With unlimited funds I would prop up our library system – books for all!
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? Subtle.
8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet? The internet – I could walk away tomorrow as long as book stores and public libraries still exist. I do need my books.
Fun blog! Thanks Karen
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:45 am.
kez, I’ve just started quilting again. Bought a special sewing machine and everything, since I want to try some of the more complex patterns. It’s been forever since I did it, though, so I’m going to have to work toward it. I want to make my niece a memory quilt of her mother, who died this fall. I thought it might make this tough time a little easier for her.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:19 am.
1.What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies?
When I’m not writing I like to watch TV, go to movies, read and travel.
What state do you live in?
Wisconsin
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
My dad always called me Lorable, which morphed into Lorabelle. My uncle still calls me that but no one else.
3. What food are you craving right now?
Is coffee food?
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
One. Never been teased, but didn’t have siblings.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
I’ve always loved classic cars so I’d like some kind of 50s or 60s chevy. Then someone would need to teach me to drive it.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Sarcastic.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
The internet. Wait, I started twitching.
But, no, I could never give up books.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:49 am.
Lori, since coffee comes from coffee beans and beans are classed as food, therefore coffee can be classed as a food. I hope that helps.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:41 am.
Ahh, but coffee beans are not legumes. They are actually the seed of the coffee plant, and therefore decidedly *not* a food.
Sorry…hours of culinary training ran away with my mouth. (I actually had no clue they weren’t really beans either, until I took my Beverages class!)
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:54 am.
Wow, Butch Cassidy — love that movie and talk about some major eye candy! Whew. I need to see that movie again!
I would have a tough time giving up the nets, too. Books, impossible. That would be like saying ‘don’t breathe.’ Won’t happen. But the nets … I’m addicted but I could do it.
I think.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:21 am.
Whoops, I read that as how many hours a DAY do you read. Not week. Sheesh. I need to read BETTER not MORE.
I’d say 7-10 hours now that I’ve had enough coffee.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:48 am.
1. I live in NE OH. Since we are retired we travel about half the year.
2. Sandi is my nickname. My other nickname was Half Pint. It is not used anymore.
3. No cravings right now except for chocolate, of course;
4. Meet Me In St. Louis.
5. I read one or more books a week. It depends on where we are and what we are dong.
6. I’d love a convertible.
7. Off the wall sense of humor.
8. Give up internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:01 am.
Half-Pint! Like Pa used to call Laura in Little House on the Prairie. I *loved* those books when I was younger, and always wished someone would call me Half-Pint, b/c I’m so short, but no one ever did, lol…
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:56 am.
Dana, I think that’s why I liked it, too. Looooooooved those books!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:24 am.
Sandi! My grandad-in-law used to call me Half Pint! I asked him why and he just chuckled and said, “Well, you aren’t a full pint!” Such a sweetheart. It’s cool that we share that nickname, though mine isn’t used any more since he passed on. You gave me a bunch of great memories, though.
It’s very cool that you guys travel half the year. I’m HUGELY jealous, but what a lovely way to spend your retirement.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:23 am.
Oh quizzes make me happy!
1. When not here I am found despairing at international insurance programmes, playing my piano, playing hockey (sometimes), at the cinema, or dinner, reading my books and swooning over very nice attractive men. And in live in the very nice, if hard to get to Norfolk in the UK
2. I have many, many, many names. In fact the list behind me sits at 75. Most common nicknames include Smang (when as kids we thought it would be fun/cool to put ‘Sm’ in front of everyone’s names and Angarang. Which a teacher at school called me once.
3. A Galaxy Ripple. Mmmm, chocolate…
4. Difficult question. Possibly Singing in the Rain. Not my most watched movie, but one of the best.
5. Hours depend massively on who wants to steal my time per week. A lot though.
6. Aston Martin DBS or DB9
7. sarcastic and pretty easily entertained
8. After a very short thinking time, the internet. Sadly I wouldn’t have TGB but I need the books
This was sooo the most fun way to spend some of my lunch hour!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:12 am.
Angharad, you have terrific taste in food, film AND fast cars. Brava!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:27 am.
Why thank you Karen, you are most kind!
*bobs a small curtsey*

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in? I am a mom of three, a wife, a writer and right now a student. I would like to teach creative writing at the Jr. College level.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? My nickname is Lee which in my family is short for Lisa.
3. What food are you craving right now? Coke, I know its not really a food, but I prefer its sweet fizzy goodness to anything else.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? Tough one, but I would have to say, “Wuthering Heights” the version with Tom Brady as Heathcliff.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)At least five unfortunately most of it is for school right now, not for pleasure but I still sneak some of that in.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive? Probably a Mercedes SUV. All black with black leather interior.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? Dry
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Tough question, but it would have to be books only because I can read on line, and stay connected to other authors. I also love my social media and games.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:56 am.
Lisa, I’m a Diet Coke nut myself. Love that fizziness. I know it’s bad for my bones, but hey, it’s calorie-free. Isn’t that sacrifice enough?
Btw, I just saw a Mercedes like you described and it was lux. VERY nice!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:28 am.
Correction: Should be Tom Hardy not Tom Brady. Not enough caffeine and too much Days of Our Lives.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:42 pm.
Here goes…
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb?
Job?
>>Head of Operations in a healthcare consulting company.
Hobbies?
>>Read, read and o yes, read
What state do you live in?
>>Maharashtra… (LOL, Karen, you asked for that one.. I’m in Mumbai, state of Maharashtra, country of India)
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
>>Chintu. Its Hindi for tiny. Apparently I was the opposite of a tiny baby when I was little. :-p
3. What food are you craving right now?
>>Tender coconut ice cream
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
>>Its a tie between The Matrix and The Terminator, but I think The Matrix wins because we could all already *be* in the matrix, but Terminator has not yet come to pass. What? I believe these movies are based on true events.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
>>A week? Try 2-3 hours everyday. And yes, my friends and family take great joy in harassing me about it.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
>>A very sleek Jaguar XJ6. Or a jet plane. I could see myself as a pilot; no friggin’ traffic jams – thats for sure
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
>>sarcastic and not understated in any way
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
>>Its a trick question. One cannot have ebooks without internet and if it wasnt for the internet, one would not have ebooks…
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:06 am.
I love the nickname Chintu. It sounds so sweet and endearing!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:46 am.
Thanks, Susan. Since I’m only 5feet tall (tall?), the nickname fits me better now than when I was young
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:05 am.
Pallavi, I did ask for it, didn’t I? Lol! Nice to meet you. I can see that we have a lot in common: the amount of reading, admiration for the same sort of travel – private plane, and sense of humor. I have to say, your answer to the internet v book question made me nod. You’re right. Ebooks give you both. Win-win!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:40 am.
Now I am tempted to name my next kitty “Chintu” because it sounds so cute.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:57 pm.
1. My main ‘occupation’ is babysitting the almost 4yo granddaughter, but reviewing books is taking more time as they are giving me more each month. I love to load music onto iTunes onto my computer and one day will try to load my iPod. Haha. There’s never a place for me to use it because of my schedule so I haven’t yet. I live in Central New Jersey.
2. My nickname in high school was Chief. I must have been considered the leader of our little pack of girls? but don’t still use it. My BFF just calls me Don from Donna. I doubt she considers me her capo as neither one of us is Italian.
3. Another bowl of Basic 4 cereal.
4. Pretty Woman
5. About 35-45 or more on a busy week.
6. A Lexus GF 350 F Sport
7. It used to be what I would call witty, but most of what I said went over peoples heads. Now, not so much. Just the occasional bit of sarcasm.
8. That’s a hard one because the Internet provides a connection with my family I wouldn’t ordinarily have. There’s always the phone, however, so I suppose I could give it up, she says wistfully.

dbrown, I had to look up your car, because I wasn’t familiar with it, but wow. Nice taste, girlfriend! I would drive that in a heartbeat.
I would miss the connection aspect of the net, too. But I can’t imagine not reading. It’s a tough question!!!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:52 am.
1. I live in work in NJ.
2. SuzyQ is what every one called me since I was little. As you can tell from my username it still is.
3. Taylor Ham and Cheese on a plain bagel.
4. That’s a hard one. Right now I would have to say Ever After because I just saw this several times this weekend.
5. I don’t read nearly as much as I would like. I can say I did get to read a little these past two nights!
6. Lamborghini
7. Sarcastic and sometimes silly. Depends on who I’m with.
8. Physical books? Then I would say books, because you could still read them online and you need the internet for that
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:20 am.
SuzyQ, Ever After is delish, isn’t it? That’s a worthy one.
I’m glad you got the time to read. I’m on deadline, so I’m Not Allowed this week and it’s killing me. I miss reading!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:53 am.
mmm Taylor Ham. You inspired tonight’s dinner. To heck with healthy eating.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I’m a stay at home monkey wrangler. We feed them, and they keep coming back. I’m also an aspiring romance author (Regency), and I’m thisclose to sending out the first of my queries. Ack! Oh, and I live in North Carolina- a lovely, lovely state that will be 75F today!
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? My nickname is DB (Dana Beth- and if you call me that, you will be sorry), and only used by my oldest friend and her mom. Don’t know why, but no one else ever calls me that.
3. What food are you craving right now? Everything bagel and cream cheese. Or blintzes with blueberries. Or full sour pickles. I miss Jewish delis! We don’t have many good ones up here in NC.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? I’m torn between The Princess Bride and the Keira Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice. I love them both so much, and could recite them word for word.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) It comes and goes, depending on how much I’m writing. Before I started writing, I could read 14 hours a week, easy. Now? I’m lucky if I get to read 3 hours a week.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
I know this sounds strange, but I love my current ride. I just bought a Town and Country minivan this fall, and it is loaded to the roof- TVs, Sirius radio, fold-down seats, etc, etc…I love that Beast.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Hmm. Snarky, sarcastic, bordering on indecent when I’m a few martinis deep, silly…but never mean. Nothing I hate more than someone who is nasty and cruel in their humor.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Please, please, don’t make me choose. That’s like choosing between your children! Can’t do it.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:23 am.
Dana, a ‘home monkey wrangler’ — Lol! An apt desciption, m’dear. I’ve got fingers AND toes crossed for your query, btw. WOOHOO!
We rented a van over Christmas since we had my sister’s two along with ours and wow, was it nice. I had no idea minivans had so many amenities. I was IMPRESSED.
(I don’t know how I’d answer #8. I think I’d say books. But then I wince thinking of no net. But I could read books ON the net . . . but I’d really miss the feel of a book and the smell of pages. Oh, it’s tough!)
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:56 am.
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I write. Write some more. Play online games. (I’m addicted to Big Fish Games.) I do Pilates, but not for fun. I live in Washington State.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
Never… and if I did, I’m not admitting it.
3. What food are you craving right now?
Starbucks. I know it’s not food, but what can I say? It’s early here on the West Coast. I can’t think about anything until I have my coffee.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
Love, Actually
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
Anywhere from 10-50, depending on my writing schedule. No teasing these days.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
A Mercedes… there was one that I saw once that was incredibly sleek and gorgeous… and so exclusive that it wasn’t even on their website. I don’t remember what the model was, but I suppose if I had unlimited funds, someone could find out for me.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Snarky.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Much as I love the internet, I could live without it. Books… never.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:36 am.
Oops – I meant anywhere from 10-20 hours reading. I’m not sure I’ve ever read 50 hours a week, but I suppose it is possible.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:49 am.
I was like “WOW. That’s a crazy amount of reading!”
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:59 am.
I hate to say it Susan but when I am on break from uni I will read up to 50 hours a week just so I can avoid the evil housework, dust bunnies and cobwebs that lurk in the background biding their time until they rise up and slay us all.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:03 am.
Ooh, I love Big Fish Games too… Love their 60min trial downloads!!!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:13 am.
And now I’m going to have to look those up … after my deadline, of course. (Riiiiiiiiight.)
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:00 pm.
Susan, what a delicious movie! It’s one of my faves, too. All of the convoluted, intertwined storylines — and the men! YUMMO!!!
I love snarky as a sense of humor. You’d fit in well with my family. Hot Cop was a bit shocked when he first met my family as his family is very genteel in the humor department, but now he delights in joining in.
I hope you get that Mercedes one day. It sounds like a Dream Car. I felt that way about a little red MGB I once saw when I was in college. Oh, how I wanted that car, but at the time, I had to get something more practical, which means ‘not pretty’ and ‘fuel efficient.’ Blech.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:00 pm.
Big Fish Games is an addiction of mine too! I now have Hidden Object games on my home computer, my iPhone and (don’t tell my boss!) my work computer. Love love love them! I own well over 100+. We won’t discuss what it’s done to my budget. Fortunately I get a lot free too….
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 2:12 pm.
Perhaps the Mercedes not on their website was one of their Maclaren partnerships. There was a dealer of them in Chicago that I’d walk past often – more like tripped over my tongue – so gorgeous.

1. Stay at home Mom, probably entering the work force again this year. Lately I spend all my time getting ready for DD’s wedding, in 9 days. Live in Alabama.
2. Nickname was Mickey as a little girl, planned and given by my Mom, but that is shortened to Mick. Close friends and family call me Mick.
3. I am craving a Shamrock Shake. Have to indulge before they are gone, love mint shakes!
4. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
5. I read anywhere from 7 to 15 hours a week.
6. Lately I keep looking at the VW Bug, they just look like so much fun. What ever it is, I want a sun roof, leather heated seats, XM radio, built in GPS, all the bells and whistles please.
7. My sense of humor is corny. Jokes and puns that make you groan, all part of my charm.
8. Books or Internet ? That is too close to call, it would be easier to give up my cell phone, or soda. And that is saying something.
7.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:36 am.
Michelle, oh my gosh! A DD wedding — that’s HUGE. Please keep up posted and let us know where we can see the wedding photos. I love wedding photos.

uh oh! Pop Quiz!
1) Live in Jersey. Most of my time is spent at work, with friends, or volunteering at a retreat house. I also spend a lot of time reading (obviously) and watching TV/movies. I don’t sleep much.
Give up books or internet? Internet…easy.
2) I’ve had 2 nicknames. Big Blue from my cheering days that only my old squad-mates use nowadays. Banjo is one that came about because someone misheard something and it is used, occasionally.
3) Broccoli Cheddar soup from Panera…yeah, that’s definitely what I’m craving…
4) Oh lord…ONE movie???? How bout a 3-way tie between Titanic, The Little Mermaid, and Sixteen Candles? Is that cheating?
5) I think I read about 20-25 hours a week – wow, seeing it written out is weird. And yes, I get teased about it all the time.
6) I’m not big into cars…but I think I would love a Charger (or whatever car Danny drives on Hawaii 5-0)
7) Sense of humor? Cheesy…occasionally sarcastic, but mostly cheesy.
That was fun
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:42 am.
Jenn, have you tried Panera’s Baked Potato Soup? It’s my current addiction- I loooove it.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:01 am.
Oh, I went through a phase where their Baked Potato Soup was all I ate. As of right now, I only eat these two lol
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:51 am.
I can see that I need to eat at Panera more often. I love their food, but oy, the calories. Still, if I watch my breakfast calories, then I can splurge on lunch and they’re SO yummy.

Probably books. I can download “books” on to my e-reader from the Net and still have both!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:46 am.
Haley, I know. It’s like a complete snap shot after only seeing a bit of the picture here, a bit more there. I love quiz days!
I drive a Subaru Outback right now, though it’s an older model. Still, it’s paid for, runs like a top, has a ton of bells and whistles, and most people are shocked when they find out how old it is because it SEEMS like a new car. They last and last.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:49 am.
Melody May, my daughter has a Honda and has driven the wheels off of it and it still keeps on ticking, so I share your enthusiasm.
Btw, I just bought a new copy of P & P by the BBC since I let someone borrow my old one and they never sent it back. It’s such a wonderful, wonderful movie. One of my faves, too, as is Emma.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:27 pm.
Oooh, quizzes, I like them!
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in? I take care of my family and workout out a lot because I do triathlons which is my hobby. I live in the not quite considered suburbs of Philadelphia.

Jen B, I bow in your direction to honor your spectacular triathaloness. I need to get into better shape and I used to run, but then hurt my knee and now … well, I’m getting back in charge of things, but wow, when you exercise a ton and then quit suddenly, your food intact is wayyyy off if you want to keep from gaining.
I love your car style, btw. VERY tony!

1. I am currently working part-time as computer geek for a not-for-profit organization. My hobbies are reading, counted-cross-stitching and playing with my cat. I live in Indiana

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:54 am.
Hi other computer geek from Indiana!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:09 pm.
Oh, Angela, an early 60s model Corvette … DROOL! I love the early 60s, and always wanted one. I’m not so crazy about the split rear window, though, and I think that came along mid-60s, which sort of killed it for me.
And if you have a Monty Python meet Carol Burnett show sense of humor, than you have a TERRIFIC one!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:33 pm.
1) NC, and my favorite thing is to be near or on water.
2) Squirt and Shorty were what the neighborhood dads called me.
3) No cravings. No cravings allowed.
4) Only one movie? I’m hyperventilating. I have massive movie cravings.
5) Hmm, not sure I can count that high. 50 hours a week seems like a good average.
6) I’d get a new boat, no question about it.
7) Massive. I love to laugh.

Lol! I love your cravings answer. That’s what mine SHOULD be.

1. I am a stay at home mom of 2 beautiful girls. I love to read, swim, and spend time with my family. I live in Ontario, Canada.
2. People always call me Ames. When I was younger my dad called me monkey and my sister used to call me bucky because of my large front teeth. Thank goodness neither stuck and I got my teeth fixed.
3. Brownies. Nice warm right out of the oven brownies.
4. Way too many to list. I could never pick just one.
5. Probably about 20 hours a week, if I’m lucky. My hubby always says I always have my face buried in a book.
6. In the winter I would drive a BMW X5 and in the summer an Aston Martin
7. I have a bit of a twisted sense of humor.
8. I couldn’t give up either one. I am way too attached to both.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:09 am.
Amy, thanks for the brownie image! NOw I am going to want one the rest of the afternoon.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 2:42 pm.
I know. Brownies are contagious. It’s just a fact of nature.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:11 pm.
Brownies are YUM! I just found a recipe for supposedly only 143 calories a serving Hot Fudge Pudding Cake. http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/hot-fudge-pudding-cake
I wonder if it’d be even less calories if you used Stevia instead of sugar. I haven’t made it yet, but mmmmmm, I’m going to and I’ll let you know how it does.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:10 pm.
Ooooh, I will have to give that a try! Thanks!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:36 pm.
Try these Better-than-brownies. Chocolate heaven. I used dark fudge cake mix, sinfully delicious.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
A: I take care of my sons. I’m a stay-at-home mom of a 3yo and a 1 1/2yo. I have many hobbies, but I lack the time to do them… I love to write, read, crochet, scrapbook, paint, etc. But I rarely do any. I live in BC, Canada.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
A: I don’t really have a nickname… my name is Cheri, but some people call me Cher, just because they’re too lazy to say the extra syllable, I guess.
3. What food are you craving right now?
A: I don’t think there’s any time that I’m not craving chocolate…
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
A: The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Bar none.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
A: I read ALL the time. When my sons are napping or if they’re involved in other activities, I generally sit down with a book for a little while. Yes, I have had plenty of people tease me about reading romance novels. Most of my friends and husband’s friends tell me I read lady porn, then snigger about it. Of course, I could care less what they think. I LOVE reading romance.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
A: I don’t drive. I’m an excellent driver, but I’m far too nervous on the road. I’m afraid that my apprehension will one day cause me to hesitate when I shouldn’t. I, therefore, let my husband drive.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
A: Open, receptive, and sarcastic.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
A: As long as I didn’t have to do my banking online, then I’d get rid of my internet. I don’t think I could live without my books!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:12 am.
Ok, when I asked about giving up the net, it never dawned on me that I would be giving up online banking. As a parent of a college kid, that is CRUCIAL. I’m so glad none of us really have to make that decision. It would be horrible.
I was a slow-to-drive person, myself. I got hit by a car when I was six – the fault was completely mine – but it made me terrified that I might hit a kiddo myself, that I waited until I was 18 to actually get my license. Even after that, I drove very, very carefully. I still try to drive carefully.

1. I live in Oregon and when I am not here I am taking online Psych courses; playing chauffeur to the g-sons & their 900 bff’s; feeding those 900 bff’s; and sitting in the ER for 5 &1/2 hours with g-son while he is checked for possible appendicitis.
2.I could tell you but then one of us would have to die. Who’s it gonna be?
3. More coffee, the g-son who was in the ER yesterday snuck out to see bimbette-du-jour before dawn this morning. He will be going to school today.
4. Can the LOTR trilogy count as one movie? They filmed them all together after-all.
5 Between 40 & 80 depending on what else is happening in my little universe.
6. A Ford SHO. It has been lust at first sight since I saw it on White Collar.
&. Slightly twisted because I can the humor in some of the strangest things. Don’t like bathroom humor or see the point in making someone weaker or different the butt of jokes.
8. I would miss the internet because I would have to give up TGB but I will not ever give up my books.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:15 am.
eviqn, I had to laugh at your g-son story. Glad he’s going to school! Sounds like he’s perfectly able to man a desk today.
I’ll let you keep your nickname to yourself. I’m sure I can imagine far worse ones than you’ve had, and that would be more fun, anyway. *snicker!*
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:18 pm.
Sometimes it really sucks to be my child, the measurement of my sympathy is below sea-level. I am SO VERY SORRY bimbette did not see you ALL DAY yesterday. Today is her chance to make up for that deficit.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:31 pm.
Sarcasm, a mom’s (and g-mom’s) not-so-secret weapon.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:36 pm.
1. I live in TX and work full time at a med-mal insurance company. Been with this company since 1993. I love to read (of course!), hanging out with the fam, puttering around the house, spa days (when I can get them!), getting ready for baseball season, my reality fix with the talent shows (SYTYCD, DWTS, The Voice, etc.), and HGTV.
2. Several nicknames–juliebug, jules, jule, mamadoodles, and my new favorite is “Nanny” to my granddaughter.
That’s what the grandkids called my mom and I always liked it.
3. Actually, nothing right this second, but the hub is taking me out for steak dinner to a new restaurant tomorrow night, and I can’t wait!
4. Heaven forbid…………I would probably try to cheat and get my box set of Harry Potter movies.
It’s in one box…lol
5. The hub STILL teases me about it because he is not a reading fan, but I usually read about 2 hours a day, I would guess. I usually read on the weekend, a couple of days out of the week for lunch, and I read for 45 minutes or so before I start getting ready for work in the mornings.
6. GMC Acadia Denali in White Diamond Tricoat with the cashmere colored leather interior…*sigh* I love those.
They sit up high enough to see around most vehicles that would be in front of me, and the gas mileage is reasonable, and it would have plenty of room for other people and cargo.
7. Wicked–I am not easily offended and I am often my own target of my most witty barbs.
8. Internet, although I would miss it terribly, I would choose the internet every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. I could not part with my books.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:36 am.
So far, Mamadoodles wins best nickname ever. I love it!

1. I´m a PhD student in geoarchaeology, mother, bookworm and couch potatoe in Reykjavík
2. My name is Sólveig. Closest family calls me Solla (L sound sort of like holler). At work I prefer to be called
Sólveig but I´ve always wished people would call me Veiga. Only one of my favorite cousins always calls með that. He
thinks he is teasing me and I always glower at him, but only because if he new I like it he would not call me that anymore. I think people started calling me Solla when I was in 1st grade where there were 2 of us Sólveig´s.
3. Tandoori´s chicken curry
4. Robin Hood, men in tights
5. Too many at the moment, mostly for school and no,
reading is a national past time, if you don´t read
people get worried :Ö)
6. Two door Land Rover Defender
7. Ahmmm, well… What would you call it when one laughs at rude bodily functions and people falling down but cries over movies like Ernest goes to camp?
8.Books
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:02 pm.
Veiga, I’m intrigued. What’s geoarchaeology? I know what geology is, and what archaeology is. I’ve never heard of geoarchaelogy, though.
Why don’t you change your name on your profile to Veiga … or you might have to re-register, which isn’t difficult at all. But you can be anyone on here that you want to be.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:21 pm.
Thank you Karen :Ö) that is a good idea. Geoarchaeology is basically where geology and archaeology collide. For example I look at and analyse floos layers in thin section through a microscope, look at stone tools and manuports, look at slag (debris from iron working), do chemical analysis for provenancing, that sort of thing.

The only nickname I can think of is a handle I use Soof01. My maiden name is Kassouf and when I was in High school, my friends started in with the soof(phonetic part of the last name). Since I am the first grandchild of my dad’s side I added the 01.

Princess Bride hands down (I do own it
)
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
ACK! Yes I get teased about it all the time. I think my husband actually just stopped asking what I was up to when he calls home in the middle of the day because he just assumes I’ve got my nose buried in a book. Easily 14-25 hrs a week!
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
I actually just bought the new Ford Explorer 2 weeks ago. I LOVE it!
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
I think I’ve got the more dry sense of humor. I prefer British comedy vs say Will Farrell or Ben Stiller. YUCK!
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
NO WAY can I choose that! I spend way too long on the internet researching books that I want to buy!!!!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:02 pm.
Jen, I love St. Augustine’s! And so you love your new Explorer, hm? I have a friend who has never owned anything else. She’s on her fifth one, in fact. Must be a great vehicle!

I am currently hanging out in a small town in western Colorado taking care of The Geezer (dad) and de-hoarding him. I am a sometimes stock photographer, goddess handmaiden and have started my own boutique marketing company working with other authors. Hobbies? I collect hobbies: crochet, quilting, collage, embroidery, gardening, cooking… the list goes on and on.
2. My brother calls me Sue (my first name is Susannah) and a few call me Sher.
3. I have an ongoing craving for masala dosa and sambar at Udupi Palace, pupusas from Gloria’s and dumplings from Din Tai Fun (all in LA area) I am in a culinary wasteland at the moment and miss my ethnic foods. Craving for what I can get locally? sausage and biscuits.
4. Oh this is HARD. I would have to do “meenie minie mo” between: Love Actually, Star Wars (the original), Despicable Me, Monsters Inc, Singing in the Rain… yeah, I can’t pick one.
5. Lately, not many at all. I usually try for 10-15 hours. I am in a bit of a reading funk at the moment, though I keep buying books on my kindle. (can I say how glad I am it is not a physical stack? I’d be buried under it, I think. heh) I don’t think I have been teased about it because I am usually doing so many other things as well
6. I am not a car person… uhm.. I saw some Nissan (I think) sports car that was kinda cool looking. I like my 10 year old RAV4 and, when it finally has to be replaced, might just get another one. I also wouldn’t mind a little pop up trailer or camper so it would be easy to go spend the night out in the mountains.
7. Goofy, silly, sarcastic.. I’m better at one liners than telling jokes.
8. Right now? Easier to give up books. When I am back in my reading mode? perhaps the internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:16 pm.
Sue, (don’t wince … you knew that was coming) maybe you should start making some of those yummos at home? When I visit East TN, I miss ethnic foods, too. There, the closest thing to ethnic food is the Aussie beer on the menu at Appleby’s.

I live in Illinois, am a receptionist for a mega church by day and rock n roll singer by night
My husband has many nicknames for me, but my favorite is “sexy siren” ha ha ha
Bacon and eggs would be great, better yet, a skillet!
I would have to say Pride and Prejudice, the Knightly version. (Yes, I love Colin Firth, but Knightly version has a beautiful soundtrack and the scenery is breathtaking)
I read at least 25 hours a week. No one would dare tease me about it
I guess I wouldn’t mind a Jag – but it must have heated leather seats and windshield wipers that detect mist and adjust accordingly.
My sense of humor is sassy and leans toward the inappropriate.
I could definitely give up the internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:40 pm.
Christy, you won the Best Job/Hobby Question with “am a receptionist for a mega church by day and rock n roll singer by night.” I LOVE that!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:02 pm.
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I am the assistant network admin at the public library, so I help maintain all the computers here. It’s awesome to be able to both work with technology and work at a library! I live in Indiana. Besides reading, I also love to play games – board games, card games, table top roleplaying games, and video games. We have friends over every Sunday for game day! I also like various crafty things – I sew, knit, paint, draw, etc.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
My childhood nickname, from my mother and aunts, is Nica (pronounced NEE-ka). They still use it, and my best friend from high school uses it. My friends up in this area, unfortunately, call me Momo. They use it, too (I wish they didn’t!).
3. What food are you craving right now?
Something with curry! I love curry. <3 And a cookie.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
The Princess Bride!
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
Oh gosh, I don't know. Between 15 and 20 at least, often more, depending on my schedule! I got teased about it some when I was little, but not so much now.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
In my dreams, it would be an irresponsible sports car, a "manly" car like a Mustang or Camaro. In reality, a hybrid of some kind like a Prius.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Sarcastic and crude. I love bad jokes, politically incorrect jokes, dirty jokes and dry humor. I like mocking people, and I expect to be mocked in return.
8. Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
… I can't decide. I don't think I can choose that. I abstain from this question.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:41 pm.
When I was answering number 5, I was talking only about sitting down and reading novels, which I do, at minimum, about 2 hours a night. If you counted reading articles online, it would be way more, even though I work full time and am a student. Which I also didn’t mention above… oops. I’m getting a degree for what I do already! I guess if you count textbooks, it’s even worse. Plus I read more than 2 hours most nights…
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:47 pm.
Monica, being a librarian or a working in a bookstore were/are my fantasy jobs. All those books . . . *takes deep breath and closes eyes* . . . ahhhhhhhhhhh!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:09 pm.
I always wanted to work with books, too! I don’t really work with books now, but I do work in a building full of books, and because I’m staff… I never pay late fees. Great perk, eh?
Posted on February 24, 2012 at 10:49 am.
1. I read (a lot); ride bike w/ hubby (when he makes me); work as legal assistant.
2. I am known as Mouse due to the old school N64 Diddy Kong racing game we played when stepson was very young. I always picked Pipsy (only girl)so the cry was to “get the Mouse” and it stuck. It actually has worked into a formalish title “Mou” or “Mou Mou” that my stepson uses instead of name. Rest of family and friends – Mouse. I think there are friends of my husband who don’t even know my real name…
3. Pulled Pork Barbeque – simply can’t get it here in Central Texas, at least not proper North Carolina version.
4. Tough one – have to go with BBC Pride and Prejudice (does mini-series count?)
5. 28 hours – I would guess.
6. Porsche
7. Humor can be pretty black but love word play.
8. This is a trick question for me as my books are all ebooks now but I am going to go with the Internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 12:42 pm.
Yes, the miniseries counts as one movie. It’s a boxed set, so you’re in the clear.
Where do you guys ride your bike? There’s a bike path near my house and sometimes Hot Cop and I take a ride along it. It’s a ton of fun!

1. Colorado, no longer able to work, I read, read some more, bake, cook, and have a penchant for remodeling and rearranging my home. Often I’m reading while waiting in a Dr’s office. Reading a book on my nook, another on my Android Kindle app, one from the library, and studying a theology book.
2. Yes, Ris, MsGodiva, Blondie, Chief Brick Chick…the first is an abbreviation of my given name, the middle two are from sporting hip-length blonde hair most of my life, and the last was from when I was running a masonry trade association.

Rhonda, I’m assuming that your ‘Aunt Snookum’ has a nickname, too … like maybe ‘Snookum’? Teehee! That’s amazing that you were a tiny baby and are now the tallest. Take THAT, cousins!
And your movie choice made me smile. Hot Cop and I love that movie and watch it together at least once every three or four months. The cast for that old movie is simply PERFECT.

1. I am an assistant to an external director & a departmental secretary/business school at a university in Birmingham, Alabama. I am from McCalla and I have lived in AL all my life and would not live anywhere else. I have a son who is a Marine and lives in NC with his wife of 7 months. I love to read, spend time with my 3 sisters and mom, have fun with my nieces and nephews. I enjoy watching tv and have recently got hooked on Criminal Minds.
2. Yes, I have a nickname, several in fact. Most of nieces and nephews call me G, an uncle calls me Bread and various other variations. And yes, I do answer when called by any of them.
3. Lunch. It will either be Campbell’s chicken noodle or creamy chicken noodle.

8. Internet and I am totally hooked on books and have been for 36 years. That is why I also go by robertsonreads.

Ginger, the Birmingham area is beautiful. I worked at a small college in GA for a while and we had a lot of meetings in your area for various student leadership initiatives. I was always charmed by the Birmingham area, especially the colleges.
I’ll have to look up a Tacoma. That sounds familiar, but I can’t picture it.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:56 pm.
1. I read or play on Facebook or Pinterest. I’m a teacher, currently unemployeed, and live in Arkansas.
2. My nickname is AJ. My dad named gave me that nickname right after I was born even though he said I wouldn’t have one.
3. The food I’m craving right now is Chinese.
4. Steel Magnolias. This has always been my favorite movie.
5. 40-60 hours a week. I read alot.
6. Jaguar
7. I have a lazy sense of humor.
8. Internet. When the internet is down I’ll always have my books to get me by.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:16 pm.
Amanda, I’m just getting started in Pinterest. Fascinating stuff!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:56 pm.
Here goes:
1. I have a job, but usually play on computer part of the time….one of the perks of my job since I’m not real busy and am also the only one in the office. Oh, I also read books on my Kindle. I live in Upstate New York, but we are moving to Northern Georgia as soon as I retire next year!!
2. My nickname was/is Peachie….got it from my dad when I was a baby (he said I looked like a “fuzzy peach”). The only ones that call me that now are family…my husband and everyone else call me Sharon, unless they want to get my attention…LOL
3. Just had my yogurt so I’m good to go for awhile.
4. The movie I could watch over and over and actually don’t own is “The Longest Day”.
5. I couldn’t even guess at how many hours I spend reading…I read at work (when not busy), read when I get home, read after supper and dishes are done, read right up until I go to bed…and yes, I get teased about it all the time. Reading is my passion and never go anywhere without my Kindle…you never know when you might get stuck some place with time on your hands…LOL My house might not be the cleanest….but, hey, I’m happy!!
6. I have simple tastes, so I’d be happy with a really nice fully-loaded minivan. Although I would love to have a really nice RV for traveling after I retire.
7. I have a really great sense of humor and have no problem laughing at myself….some people say I have a warped sense of humor, but that’s just the way I am.
8. I could give up internet without any problem. I have been reading books for over 50 years and could never imagine my life without them. They calm me and ease all the stress and tensions from my life. I’ve already told my kids they will need to bury me with my Kindle (or whatever ereader I have when I die) so I can keep enjoying my books in the hereafter!!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:23 pm.
I used to live in N. Ga. Lovely place and tons of good people. I once thought about retiring there, but it seems as if it’s getting crowded.
Books affect me the same way they affect you — they calm and ease the stress. It’s like a mini vacation between the pages. I love that!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:58 pm.
1. I work as a grant writer at a state university, helping the professors write research and project grant proposals. Love it! I also quilt, crochet, needlepoint and cross stitch. Right now I’m on a needlepoint kick. I like to cook, but since I live alone I don’t very often because I’m lazy. I love to spend time with family, esp the babies and children. I’m also researching/writing a non-fiction book on a triple homicide that happened in the 1870s, and trying to get going on a mystery novel I have mostly plotted in my head. And sleep. I like sleep. And chocolate. I live in my home state of Kentucky; I’ve also lived in Florida, Tennessee, New Jersey and Alabama.
2. My name is Susanna, so I get the standard Sue, Suzie and Suzy-Q. I discourage it
. Mostly I get, “O, Susanna!”, which is fine because then they at least say it right. For a time in college I was called Susanna-Rosanna-Danna, after an SNL character. I also answer to “Hey, you!”.
3. Green rice casserole (aka broccoli rice casserole). That’s because I made a big batch of it and it’s at home in my refrigerator. I am not at home.
It would be chocolate, but I just had some.
4. Can a story with multiple movies count as one? If so, Lord of the Rings Trilogy. If truly only one, probably the first Anne of Green Gables movie.
5. It would be better to say, how many do I not read? As a writer both professionally and avocationally, reading is a constant. If you mean non-work/writing reading, probably… 50+ hours a week, counting listening to audiobooks while I drive, do chores and work on projects. When I hear people say, “I just don’t have time to read”, I think they’re crazy. I could no more go a day w/o reading than go a day w/o breathing. I don’t get teased about it much, because most of my friends/family are also readers. I do get teased about how many books I have.
6. 2011 Aston Martin DBS Volante softtop convertible; base price, $286,500.
7. I don’t have a sense of humor. Very dour. Except for my affection for puns, scaring people, word plays, sarcasm, tickling, ironic asides, earthy/body related… no, sorry. No humor here. Move along.
8. Internet. Although I would have withdrawal that may or may not involve keening.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:26 pm.
Susanna, I’m with you on the reading. I can’t imagine not being able to. And your car choice is impressive and you even know the price. I hope you eventually get one!

1. I am a stay-at-home mommy, I live in WV close to DC.
2.My Hubby calls me is Eskimo Princess, cause no matter what (except in 90 degrees) I am cold. My ex in-laws called me Lulabelle and still do.
3.I’m always craving a Carmel Frappe or Pepsi and chocolate
4.Grease, and I do own it. Or Harry Potter, I own that too
5.I can’t even count the hours I spend reading, yes people always make comments about me reading too much.
6. Any nice car or SUV
7. I have a pretty good sense of humor
and 8. internet, but that would still be hard.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:29 pm.
Alisa, the Eskimo Princess is such a cute name! Aw!
I grew up being called a bookworm. It didn’t bother me then and doesn’t now, but I do wonder about people who ‘never read.’ What DO they do, then? You can only watch so much teevee and your mind turns to mush.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:01 pm.
I’ve always been a bookworm. I get on my stepson all the time that he needs to read more.
What part of WV do you visit? We live in Eastern Panhandle.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I live in Florida and my husband and I own a wholesale to the trade flooring showroom. I had my first child (a daughter)a year ago and I am currently only working part time. My hobbies are reading books and hosting/planning parties.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
I have had a couple of nicknames; none of which I like. In high school I had the nicknames: Snowcone (I assume because I have red hair?), Shake and Bake (because I looked a little like the girl in the commercials), and Duchess (not because I read historical romances but because I can be pretty snooty). All of those were given to me by boys I knew. My husband calls me Red even though he knows I can’t stand it.
3. What food are you craving right now?
BBQ Pulled Brisket
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
The Last of the Mohicans
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
Before I had my daughter I would read between 6-8 hours a week. Now I am lucky if I get 2-4 hours to read. And yes, I have always been teased for being an avid reader. I began to read romance novels when I was in middle school. I had to use book cozies so no one would see what I was reading. And now my husband teases me while I read. Mostly what I read not how much. He interrupts me while I am mid-book to make up his own stereotypical historical romance dialogue.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
I really like the Audi R8, especially the convertible version that Iron Man drives.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
I have a great sense of humor but I couldn’t tell you a joke to save my life. I only think of witty things to say hours after they are no longer relevant.
8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Definitely the internet-unless the internet began to offer books online for free!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:30 pm.
I read your comment and every day there are free books listed for a Kindle at ereadernewstoday.com. If you do not have a Kindle you can download an app for your computer. I think there may be free Nook books also but do not have a web address.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:10 pm.
Andrea, I have a friend who hosts parties as a hobby. I feel very lucky to be on her guest list. It’s AMAZING how some people can create memorable events out of thin air. It’s a true gift.
Btw, about sense of humor, I’m just like you — my quick quips aren’t that quick. That’s why I love to write. I can put my heroines in the place for a quip and then take my time thinking of one.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 5:27 pm.
1. I live in So.FL., I read, write, swim, movies, sunbathe, bike ride, walk, go to theater, go to parks and zoos, just
enjoy life.
2. My nickname was Kitten, given to me by my first love throughout high school and beyond. It changed to Kitty after I was with a ginger (a 70s show reference for us), and now I have honey.
3.dark chocolate, I crave it a lot. Love the one with cayanne pepper.
4. Gone With The Wind
5. I read constantly ever since a was a child. I think I read novels about 2-8 hours a day. Depends on the day. Some days I can not put a book down and stay from morning to 2am the next day. Yes, I have been teased, in school, by family, even my husband feels a certain neglect and let’s me know through his teasing.
6.My dream car, a 1959 Caddillac Convertible, black, white interior, and Chrome, with whitewalls of course.
7 I have a wicked sense of humor, a little off but can make someone laugh themselves to the restroom.
8. I would give up the internet. I love books.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:43 pm.
Carla, you have the dream life!
Btw, I’ve been a late night reader my entire life. Even now, most nights Hot Cop drifts off to sleep to the sound of me turning the pages of some book or another. Late night is a lovely time to read.

Hi Beebs! I just made a chocolate/coffee dessert tonight, so it’s serendipitous that you like them both. I hope it turns out — it’s a new-to-me recipe.
I don’t blame you for not driving. If I had a HAWT chauffeur, you’d never see me drive, either!

Gail, Pay Days! I love those. It’s second only to Hundred Thousand Dollar Bars. Nom nom!
My favorite Hugh film? Hmmm. I like so many of them. I enjoy SOMEONE LIKE YOU and PAPERBACK HERO for Hugh in a cute chick flick. REAL STEEL for Hugh as Dad. AUSTRALIA for Hugh as Cowboy. All of the XMen and Wolverine for Hugh as Powerful and Glowering Mutant. VAN HELSING and KATE AND LEOPOLD for Hugh as Historical Hero.
You know, I’d go with KATE AND LEOPOLD. He ROCKS the Regency clothes. And I mean ROCKS.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in? I’m currently searching for a job. I read a lot when I’m not here or hang around with family. I live in northern Vermont.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? I’ve had two. My sibs called me Curly because of my hair when I was growing up (it’s also a play on my first name). They no longer use it now that I’m an adult. However, my brother calls me “Short” since I’m only 5’3.” I call him “Ugly,” a shortened version of “Ugly Brother.” They are affectionate names and we are the only ones that get away with them. His wife had almost had a fit the first time I called him that until he explained what it meant and how long we had been using the terms. Now we even address Christmas cards and gifts with the names.
3. What food are you craving right now? Diet Dr. Pepper. Good thing I have a glass sitting next to me.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? Either BBC Pride and Prejudice or Firelight with Sophie Marceau and Stephen Delane
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) Too many to count. Yes, I have been accused of being a bookworm. I usually ignore them and stick my nose back in my book. Either that or I start reading aloud from my book until they take the hint and leave me alone.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive? Probably a Toyota something. I would also have my current Toyota Previa completely restored to showroom condition (she’s so much fun to drive!!!)
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? Goofy, quirky, sometimes wicked, which makes it unpredictable.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet? The internet. My books take me everywhere the internet goes anyway and some places it doesn’t.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:08 pm.
Ladydawgfan, I’m sending you positive vibes in your job search.
If you’re going to crave something, craving a diet something is a sign of excellent internal control. Right now, I’m craving a diet coke. It’s cold, refreshing, and has no calories. Win-win!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:36 pm.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? Many people call me Jules, perhaps because I’m such a gem. ; ) Everyone except my husband calls me that. He calls me “Crazy (insert maiden name here) Girl!” don’t ask me why. *cough*
3. What food are you craving right now? Scones … sigh … with dried cherries and dark chocolate chips.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? I’m torn between two. The movie “The Lady Eve” has such witty writing, excellent directing and great acting. But I think I’ll have to go with the movie “The African Queen”. It too has witty writing, excellent directing and great acting. But I love how the warring lead characters, their developing romance and the adventurers they encounter are set against the backdrop of a world at war.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) Gosh, I have no idea. Honestly I just read every moment I can. Reading is my reward for finishing the “I don’t really want to do this” tasks.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive? A Lamborghini
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? I think that I have a great sense of humor, even if it is a bit quirky.
8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet? The internet would be easier to give up, without a doubt.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:46 pm.
And since I’m qirky I’ll end with #1…
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? I cook, develop recopies for fun. I love to walk and go on long hikes. Camp when I can. Spend as much time communing with nature as possible. I’m at a crossroads in life and enjoying the fact that I have choices. I love to read. Sometimes I’m a beta reader. Recently someone asked me to help them with their WIP. My first reaction was “Have you lost your mind”. But he insisted, even when I pointed him in the direction of people more qualified for the job. So right now I am CP, beta reader, and for all intents and purpose an editor. I might joke about it but helping someone work through the first deep revisions of the first draft of their first manuscript isn’t something to be taken lightly. So, can you blame me for questioning his sanity? I mean really. “Hey, this is my editor. She doesn’t type, doesn’t write and she posts videos on FB of herself talking to her fish.”
And finally what state do I live in? See answers above. Honestly? At this point I’m kinda thinking its … the Twilight Zone. Yep. Welcome to the Twilight Zone.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:53 pm.
Lol! Glad you put the questions in the order you liked! I know of several authors who get what they call a ‘cold read’ from a reader in order to get first reactions to a book, which may be similar to your beta reader. Sounds like you’re enjoying it, which is awesome. I’m sure your novelist friend appreciates your help.
Btw, my parents’ first date was to see The African Queen. I smile every time I see that movie.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:53 pm.
It is very cool watching a newer writer grow in technique and confidence as they work out their story. Last night I got a rewritten (he had to dump the information dumping) passage in an email. I read it and my reaction was … well I felt like I was Winnie the Pooh. Yeah I was Pooh and a bee had just handed me a jar of honey .Because it was one of those “ ooooh-my is that sweet!” kind of moments. Of course in my email back to him I was a cool and professional (or at least as professional as a woman who talks to her fish can be). Asking him things like “So how do you feel about the new verses the old” blah blah blah. He’s young. He has a lot to learn. But I have no doubt that he’ll move on to a better CP and a real editor someday. Until then? I get to be Pooh.
Posted on February 24, 2012 at 12:23 am.
Your parents have excellent taste! And who wouldn’t fall in love while watching The African Queen? Its such a great love story, IMO. A tale about two seemingly incompatible people discovering love. Bogart and Hepburn at their best.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I am a bookkeeper, my hobby is reading and I live in North Carolina
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
Jackie is my nickname – short for Jacquoline, but one of my uncles called me Mrs. Jones and another uncle called me and still calls me Mrs. Ritz. No I have no idea were either of them came up with the names. I was a very girly girl when I was a child so maybe it had something to do with that.
3. What food are you craving right now?
Nothing until I read this question – now I want chocolate.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
“Gone with the Wind”
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
I am not sure, I live alone and if I am not working or sleeping I am usually reading so maybe 60 or 70. Since January 1 according to my Goodreads records I have read 48 books and it is Feb. 23. Most of my life everyone who knows me has teased me about the reading all of the time.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
A black jaguar
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
I tend to make a joke of almost everything and have been known to laugh at very inappropriate times.
8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Hard question – I buy books from Amazon but I could always go back to hard copies so if I have to give up one – the internet. But then how will I know what my favorite authors are up to?
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 3:59 pm.
Jackie, a black jaguar, eh? Verrrry sexy. Makes me think of James Bond. Or, in your case, Jackie Bond!
The book/internet questions seems to be a catch 22 as they impact each other so much. I’m with you — I’m not sure which I’d choose.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:06 pm.
1- All work and not enough play until I move to Scoland
I’m currently living in Turkey.
2- I have a lot of nicknames. The one my friends use the most is kofte which is kinda like meatball. No idea why it stuck lol.
3- Oddly not craving anything right now. I tend to crave fries the most.
4- That Old Feeling: Sooo funny
5- I read every day. Not sure how many hours. Haven’t been teased about it, but sometimes I am nagged to put down my ereader
6- A hybrid mercedes and an aston martin 4 door sedan
7- I have no idea :-/
8- Neither. Although I hate the internet sometimes.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:23 pm.
Archer, we’re all excited about your move as we’re all coming to visit. I hope you have a LOT of guest rooms.
I’ve been told to put down my book and come to dinner, or get ready to go somewhere, or watch something on tv — I can’t count. It’s amazing how many reasons there are to put down your book, aren’t there?
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:13 pm.
1. When I am not here I am: a. currently the manager at a retail surf clothing store, while I wait for funding for my rec program. b. living in Hawaii c. reading, watching cop dramas on tv, nhl hockey games, or playing on the internet.
2. Jen is technically a nick-name, though anyone calling for Jennifer will be told that no one of that name lives here (it happened twice, and both times it was one of my bosses calling). My mother calls me Nenny when she is in a whiny mood.
3. Pizza
4. If I could own only one movie it would be The Man from Snowy River, though my favorite movie is either The Shawshank Redemption or The Usual Suspects.
5. Several hours a day. I’ve been teased about it since I can remember by everyone including my parents.
6. With unlimited funds I would have some sort of electric car. I hate having to find a gas station.
7. I have a stealth sense of humor. My family is very witty and I can’t keep up, so I sit and listen and then make one reply that has everyone rolling.
8. I’m addicted to both books and the internet, but I’d give up the internet because I’ve been addicted to books for longer.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:25 pm.
Jen, you’re in HAWAII? I’m seriously jealous here.
Lol, a stealthy sense of humor, eh? Did you know that the same part of your brain that reacts to surprise, also reacts when you laugh? Surprise is an important part of humor, so maybe you’re lucked onto something there.

1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in?
I’m a systems librarian at a university library. My hobbies are reading, knitting, and studying for a BA in Humanities with English Language at the Open University. I live in the state of Bavaria, in Germany.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it?
As a small child I called myself “Enamone”, a nickname then mostly used by my father and one of my uncles. Since my uncle died, my father somehow stopped using it, too.
3. What food are you craving right now?
None at all, I’m just getting over a nasty stomach bug and in the unusual state of not craving anything.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
As mini-series are ok, it would be the BBC’s “North&South” with the wonderful Richard Armitage.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?)
10-20 hours, it really depends on my workload from the university course. As a librarian you don’t get teased about reading, although my reading generally has absolutely nothing to do with my work.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
It would be an Audi, but I don’t know which model. I visited the Audi factory here in Bavaria last year and was fascinated by the technology.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Dry and sometimes too sarcastic for others’ comfort.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
Internet, even though it is one of my main connections to my sisters who live in South Africa and the US.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 4:39 pm.
Ah, a librarian. Verena, you have my dream job!
I have a friend who loves the Audi brand and he’s always trying talking them up. I really don’t know much about them except that they’re beautiful cars. I would love to see the factory, though. I’m putting the Bavarian factory on my Must See list.

Work doing medical billing. Reading. Ohio.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? Jude by close friends. My nephew when he was little couldn’t say his D’s so I was Aunt Jewy.
3. What food are you craving right now? Skyline Chilli
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? Deceived
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) A lot.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
Porsche
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? sarcastic.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet?
The internet

Judy, I never see Reading, OH without thinking about Monopoly and the Reading Railroad which reminds me of Game Night growing up in TN.
What’s Skyline Chili? Is it something you can make, or have to buy from a particular establishment? I do love good chili!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:10 pm.
I actually live in Cincinnati Ohio but its close to Reading Ohio.
Skyline Chili is a local restaurant. I will send you a link.

1. I do English Studies and German Studies at Uni. I work at TK Maxx (the European TJ Maxx) and I live well in Germany.
2. the only nicknames I have are Steff (which my brother always uses), Staff (which somehow came up, I can’t really remember). Friens use that a lot because there are so many Steffis out there ^^
3. Potato Skins. The ones from Hard Rock Cafe. yup.
4. For Love of The Game. didn’t have to think about it. I’ve seen that movie about 23577 times and I’ll never get tired of it.
5. always depends. While I have to go to Uni I don’t have that much time to read for fun, so I’m picking it up again right now. I sometimes read only about 2 hours a week and sometimes 40? depends on how much I have to do throughout the week.
6. Range Rover. Always wanted one of those, not sure which one exactly.
7. Dark… really dark. A lot of sarcasm. To be honest, I couldn’t live without sarcasm. It is a huge part of my personality. And I make a lot of fun of myself.
8.books. I can still find “books” and stuff to read on the internet haha so that is not the problem. Living without the internet on the other hand is not possible nowadays. I stay in touch with my friends through the internet, watch TV shows, that are not shown on German TV (hockey especially) and my Uni does everything online. I have to log in to my profile on the Uni site to get my grades.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 6:14 pm.
Steffi, ooooh, potato skins. NOM NOM NOM!
I’m going to have to find that movie. I’ve added six to my Netflix que just today. I need two weeks to catch up!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:13 pm.
1. Read, judge book contests, hope to start my own review website soon.
2. Jelly when I was a camp counselor. A derivative of part of mt last name.
3. Taco salad which I am also eating right now!
4. Somewhere in Time.
5. Too many to admit to here (someone might call me an addict and call “Reader’s Anonymous”!).
6. I get a new mini SUV – brand doesn’t matter.
7. Witty, sarcastic, a little odd.
8. I’d give up the internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 6:26 pm.
Sue, a review website! Very cool. I love paging through those. And as you’re going to be a founding members of Reader’s Anon, you’re the perfect person to be Head Reviewer.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:42 pm.
1. Work at City Hall, hobby is reading (of course) and live in Florida.
2. My mother called me something occasionally and my siblings called me something to tease me, but I’m not telling what. They’re not used any more.
3. Chocolate naturally, and pizza.
4. Serenity.
5. At least 10-15 hours, and no I haven’t been teased about it.
6. Probably an electric car, like a Tesla Roadster.
7. Sarcastic / snarky.
8. Internet, there’s no way I could give up books.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:02 pm.
Oh, Barbara … a Tesla Roadster … *drool*
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:42 pm.
1. I live in North Carolina and work as an Office Assistant. I love to read and play with my dogs (the younger dog that is — the older one thinks “playing” is beneath her)
2. My name is Mary Anna, and sometime during my childhood by cousin started calling me “Mary Banana” which then got shortened to “Naner.” Luckily it did not catch on with my friends and eventually went away.
3. Pizz, which is good because that’s what my hubby is cooking for dinner!
4. How could I choose? There are so many that I watch over and over again. Probably “Love Actually.”
5. How much I read depends on what else is going on in my life at the time. I go through periods where I’ll go through at least a book a day, then other times I might not even make it through 2 a week.
6. I love my CRV, but if I could afford multiple cars I’d also have a Mustang and a pick-up truck (not picky on the model).
7. I’m not so great at telling jokes or making other people laugh, but I’m quick to see the humor in pretty much any situation (even when it’s not intended) and have been known to laugh so hard I can’t breath and tears stream down my face.
8. Either would be hard, but probably the internet.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:25 pm.
You win Best Husband since he’s fixing your dinner AND it’s the meal you happen to be craving. A double homer!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:43 pm.
1. Work fulltime at a university in Florida on an educational website. I mostly read but sometimes I watch movies and quilt.
2. I started calling myself “Kari” when I went to college but it didn’t last long.
3. Chocolate, what else? I think I’ll go find some as soon as I finish answering this.
4. I would own the original “Conan the Barbarian” (well, I actually already do). Yes, Arnold is a slimeball but he sure looked pretty in that. The only movie I saw 3 times in the theater when it came out!
5. How many hours are in a week? Even my family says I’ve always had my nose in a book. I read my first adult book, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn,” at age 7. I get driven to work so I read during the 30-minute commute, I read at lunch, I read at home instead of watching TV (I only watch about 2-3 hours of TV a week). I’ve even taken a book along to sporting events and read during them.
6. I’m still in love with a 1960s Jaguar XKE but the Cadillac CRS (I think) is a pretty good car, too.
7. My sense of humor is dry and tending toward the sarcastic.
8. I’m going to say books but only because you can read on the internet. As long as I can read somehow, I’m good.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:44 pm.
Karen, I’m starting back into quilting myself. I used to do it, but I want to make one for my niece, so I need to get caught back up on the basics.
And you read a Tree Grows in Brooklyn at 7? That’s pretty spectacular!
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:46 pm.
1. What do you do when you’re not hanging with us here on tgb? Job? Hobbies? What state do you live in? I write, garden, read, play chauffer, and take care of my currently disabled sweetheart (I refuse to believe he’ll be this way forever!) I live in PA.
2. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it? Where did it come from and do you still use it? No, not really.
3. What food are you craving right now? None. Just had dinner.
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be? The Quiet Man, although Willow might come in a close second.
5. How many hours a week do you read? (And has anyone ever teased you about it?) It depends. When I find time to read, I read voraciously, but the dry spells can be long. And, yes, I’ve been teased about it. My youngest tells everyone, as a result of my reading (I’ll read a cereal box if that’s all that’s available), I’m a font of useless information.
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive? A Cadillac EXT. And it would be used, I’m sure. Even with limitless funds, the Scot in me would cringe at the price of even a used one! (I drive an Avalance now—easier for Hubble to get in and out—and love the versatility.)
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? Dry. As in Saharan. Often self-deprecating.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet? Internet. No brainer. My books are my friends, and I really don’t care what this celebrity or that is doing. Way to much garbage online.
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:56 pm.
Gwyn, I’ve only bought one new car and it drove me crazy thinking about losing 15% as I drove it off the lot, so no more new cars for me, either. BUT a nice used one … hellllllo, baby!

8. It would be easier to give up the internet.

The internet. I can not imagine being without books.

I love FB but it is SUCH A huge time waster. I need a timer to keep me off of it more than’s healthy for my writing schedule. ACK!
Posted on February 24, 2012 at 12:08 am.
1. I write these pesky books they keep asking me to write. *G* And I do puzzles and play spider solitaire and take care of my family. I live in NC.
2. Debbity-Dog. My dad coined it as a take on the cartoon “Deputy Dog.” My dad still uses it, but nobody else. They all know better. *G*
3. Pizza!
4. Only one??? Probably Pride and Prejudice, the Matthew Macfadyen one.
5. Depends on what you mean by reading. If you mean just books, then it’s probably six hours or so. If you mean everything, I read a LOT more. I got teased a lot when I was a kid (and I read a lot more then, too). My brothers and sister thought it was odd that I read so much.
6. No idea. I’m not a car lover. That would be a hard decision to make.
7. Atypical?
and 8. Okay, I’m going to cheat and say “the internet,” because you can get books on the internet. *G*
Posted on February 23, 2012 at 9:20 pm.
Sabrina, I haven’t yet seen Pride and Prejudice with Macfadyen, but after seeing pictures of the guy, oh yeeees! It’s on my Must See List.

3. What food are you craving right now?
Chocolate. Is there another food group?
4. If you could own only one movie, which would it be?
Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth.
5. How many hours a week do you read? Read about 10 hours a week, plus I listen to audiobooks about 15-20 hours per week (I work full time too).
6. If you had unlimited funds, which car/truck/boat would you drive?
I love Audi’s – give me the R8 (the one from the Iron Man movies).
7. How would you describe your sense of humor?
Cool. I don’t get risque jokes very often though.
and 8.Which would be easier for you to give up: books or the internet? Internet for sure!

LilMissMolly, what a tough job! Not only do you have do deal with numbers, but negative ones. That’s got to be difficult at times.
I’ve never spent much time with audiobooks, but I’m intrigued. Which is your favorite?

1. I’m a stay at home mother of 4 adult children & “Grandma”
to 10 grandchildren, I have a 35 year history of volunteering in our area & am a voracious reader, I am a native of the TX Gulf Coast.
2. I am called Pat which is a diminutive of Patricia.
3. Peach Cobbler
4. Love With A Proper Stranger with the late actors Steve McQueen and Natalie Woods.
5. 20-30 hours a week (which is a low for me)since I met the
internet! No teasing because everyone in the family carries
a book or e-reader at all times. We’re 3 generations of
readers!
6. A Lincoln Navigator.
7. I would say my humor is strange.
8. I would choose books especially if the power goes out!

Patricia, what a busy life you have!
It’s cool that you are three generations of readers. My kids are the third generation of readers in my family, too. It’s amazingly satisfying to share your passion with your kids and grandchildren, isn’t it?

I would give up the internet anf keep my books!!

Pat, it sounded fine to me. You can always light a lamp or turn on a flashlight to read a book, but you can’t do anything about the net without power.

1. I am retired because of medical reasons, so I do a lot of reading and watch TV, plus I go to my physical therapy..
2. Mother Superior and it is a long story
3. Salt and Vinigar Potatoe Chips.
4. I own it, An Affair to Remember..
5. I have never counted the hours, but I would say at least 5 hours a day or more and they would not dare tease me…
6. I would buy a Green Jaguar with white leather interior..
7. Witty and wholly amusing.
and
8.I would have to go with the internet, but it is a hard choice to have to make…

Kathleen, I just watched Sleepless in Seattle, which talks a lot about An Affair to Remember, so I was just thinking about that movie! AATR is a true classic.

1. I’d like to say jewelry designer, but I think I spend more time volunteering at my children’s elementary school.
2. Big Red – my uncle David, gave it to me because I’m the oldest of the 3 redheads. The youngest was Little Red, but the middle one never had a red nickname. I have not used it in ages, like since I was 12. My hs girlfriends still call me Nae, but only them.
3. Nothing, probably because I shared an amazing sundae with my dh at the Fair Oaks Pharmacy in South Pasadena this afternoon.
4. Hmm, one movie. It’d probably be Pride and Prejudice – BBC or 2005 version (love that soundtrack).
5. Many, many hours, and more lately since I’m not supposed to be using my right thumb (it’s still swollen from a repetitive stress injury caused by making open back bezels.). Yes, my 8 yo daughter has commented on my reading habits.
6. I’d drive a 1940s truck, completely restored with modern safety features and engine. It’d be duck egg blue. It wouldn’t matter if it were a Ford, Chevy, or Studebaker truck. Just from the 40s. Or I’d drive a 1950 or 51 Studebaker Starlight Commander (love the bullet nose front).
7. Slightly sarcastic.
8. That would be a hard choice. I just bought some fabulous, 40′s forest green peep sandals off the internet. But I love to read. Maybe books because I can read books on the internet and keep shopping.

Janae, it takes a village to run a school, especially after all of the budget cuts they’ve been facing. Kudos to you for helping out!
And your poor thumb! I hope it heals quickly.
Btw, your choice of a car is unique and beautiful. Some of those restored vehicles are works of art.

1. Office Manager in County Government. I have 2 grandbabies (5 & 2 years) that I love to spoil, read, camping, football, machine embroidery, remodeling our house. I live in WV
2. Wendybird, its a play on my name.
3. Chocolate (see my other reply for Better than Brownies recipe)
4. Hope Floats. (Love it)
5. Now, 2-3 hours. I try to read at least 1 book a week. Before internet, I would read 6-7 per week.
6. Unlimited funds means I could have more than one. A classic mustang convertible, for hitting the road. Also, some type of SUV, possibly hybrid for everyday driving. Love the feel, roominess, and size of my X=terra. But want something much more fuel effecient.
7. How would you describe your sense of humor? quirky, sarcastic.
8. I would give up paper books, because I can get books online. I use the internet way too much, though.

1.) When not reading the Goddess Blogs I am a Mom, wife, FT college student(for the 2nd time), and a driver for an aspiring olympic gymnast.
2.)Yep, I had a nickname. It was Smiley. I have worn glasses since I was 9 months old. My optometrist would always try to talk to me and all I would do was smile at him. So he started calling me Smiley. This got embarassing when I hit my teen years. No one calls me this anymore.
3.)Right now I am craving Shredded Beef Tacos and Cheese Enchildas.(I live in AZ and eat a lot of Mexican Food)
4.)If I could only take one movie it would be Mr and Mrs Smith. It has just the right amount of action and humor.(Brad Pitt is a bonus to)
5.)I read about 5+ hours a week.(I am not counting text books here). As the afore mentioned driver of gymnast I have 6 hours a week of waiting in my week. (Gym is 40 miles away from our small town)I don’t get teased about my reading. However, complaining does occur frequently. Apparently if it’s a really good book I zone out and don’t hear people talking to me or pay attention to the time.
6.)Dream car/truck, a Ford Raptor Truck. However since they cost around 40,000 that will be remaining a dream.
7.)My sense of humor is dry, sarcastic. It’s a family trait. My cousin and I have decided to blame our fathers for it. I think this is why I enjoy regency books so much.Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory Series is right up my alley for humor.
8.)Not factoring in school, the internet would go first if I had a choice.(Can you hear my 15yr old screaming in terror yet?)

1. I work in Early Childhood. I’m into crafts: knitting, sewing, crochet & embroidery. I read, of course.
2. PUMPKIN: I had a round head, round haircut & pretty much the right colour. It was in High School & soon people were calling me punk or punky. I did not mind.
3. A peach.
4. GLADIATOR
5. I read maybe 14+ hours a week. I’ve never been teased about it. I come from a family that reads.
6. I don’t care!!
7. WICKED!!
8. I’d keep the Internet & read online. Is that cheating? I don’t care.
