Did you know The Goddess Blogs are on Facebook, Goodreads and Twitter?

Social Media 101

I came across this on a blog the other day:

I laughed, even though I’ve never heard of three of these, because the different types of social media really do serve different purposes. And what I’ve discovered is some people are better served by one than by another.

I’ll admit it. I prefer Facebook to Twitter. It’s easier to carry on a conversation, and since I’m wordy, it’s a lot easier to fill in the box without getting cut off. Pictures are easier. Comments on pictures are easier. I go on Twitter because some of my friends spend all their time there, but really, I could avoid it for weeks and it wouldn’t bother me.

But this week, I discovered Pinterest. You see, I deal in words all day long, so I’m not always thrilled to be doing more “chatting” online. I am not, however, very observant, so I can really use pictures for things I need to describe. And I can find a whole lot of pictures on Pinterest. Hoo boy! It’s a costume mecca! Pics of snuff boxes! Jewelry! Hunky guys! And someone somewhere has organized them just the way I want them. I’m in love.

Of the social media listed above, I have only participated in four: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. I would add “blogging,” honestly, because I truly think it’s a social media. But right now, my new favorite is Pinterest (for fellow pinners, you can find me here–and no, I don’t have much up yet).

So which social media have you “done”? And I would include Myspace and  blogging (participating on a blog, either as a blogger or as a blog-commenter). Which ones do you most enjoy? Which ones just don’t suit you? Have you tried Pinterest?

  1. Kelly Proellocks says:

I love me some TGB, Facebook and tolerate Twitter. I haven’t thought about Pinterest, heck I only heard about it the other day and I am going “huh?”. Thanks to Facebook I have made some amazing friends which have become like family to me and have been able to talk to all you amazing goddesses.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

That’s how I feel about Facebook, Kelly. I love meeting readers there, and have gotten some good ideas from both friends and readers about stuff to do or places to go or tips on things.

  2. aida alberto says:

I’m on Facebook and like Kelly love TGB. Have friends who are on Google but it’s too much for me. I was doing Pinterest but heard some disturbing things about it so I deleted my account. May go back to it later if things are worked out. Don’t get Twitter and because I’m wordy it would cut me off.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Aida, what did you hear about Pinterest? I know–I’m just not pithy enough for Twitter. *G*

  3. LoriHandeland says:

I had never heard of Pinterest until this week. Another friend mentioned it. I’ll have to check it out.

I’ve done Facebook, Twitter and blogging. I’m not a Twitter fan so I’ve had my Twitter account set up to post from my FB. Much easier that way.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Lori, I do that, too. This next couple of weeks, though, I’m going to be pretty scarce on everything. I’m finishing a book!

    2. Haley says:

LOVE Pinterest! Make sure you budget about an hour for your first time. :) It’s a time sucker.

  4. Amanda says:

I’ve been asked to be a convert to pinterest, but I’m not interested in another social medial. I dumped Facebook last fall, and really don’t miss it. Of couse, the only people I was ‘friends” with are folks I can see on a regular basis.

I would add texting to the list. I do text people. Mostly it is about where we’re meeting, but I like a text sometime in lieu of actually talking to someone.

  5. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Texting is something I’ve slowly been adding. it really is useful when you’re trying to meet up with people. Can’t get my parents to do it, though.

    1. Julia London says:

Count your blessings! My parents are now texting which means my phone is dinging half the day.

  6. Kelly R/W. says:

Yea, I’m on Facebook. I like FB, I just don’t see a need for changing it every few weeks! I have a Twitter account, but don’t care for it very much. I have somehow found TGB, and y’all keep me coming back for more! I also have my own blog. I have been meaning to check out Pinterest. As a matter of fact I had a friend check it out for me. Well, she has and now has sent me an invite. At the moment I don’t have the time for Pinterest. I am in a class about writing a book in a month. That class, plus one more, along with a paying job has consumed my time. Maybe in a couple of weeks I can play around a little more!

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I totally agree–drives me crazy how they are always updating it. It doesn’t need updating, IMO.

I think Pinterest is going to consume WAY more time than it should from me, but I like it.

  7. Sue says:

FaceBook & TGB are about all I can handle! DH tried Twitter for a day or two and decided it wasn’t for him. As for Pinterest, not for me. My DIL & one of my good friends love it.
I have made several friends on FB and love chatting with them.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I’ve met a lot of fun people on Facebook, but I actually have met more on this blog. Y’all are great!

  8. Gail Nichols says:

I have met some wonderful people on Facebook and have done a little on twitter and I love blog commenting. I don’t Know anything about pinerest though:)

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Gail, if you like recipes and craft and pics, it’s really good for those.

  9. TinaF says:

I love TGB, it is the only author blog left that I read.

So I have to stalk my favorite authors here, on Facebook or their website.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

So you DO got to websites, too? I should have asked that.

  10. Michelle B says:

I started Facebook a couple of years ago when DD#2 set me up an account so I could see pictures she posted while away at college. Little did I know then that I would be obsessed with it today. I love that it has allowed me to find friends that I thought I had lost due to military moves. It also let’s me keep up with the younger generation of our family, get to see their babies and hear what’s new. I was a letter writer, but most people are not, but they will facebook.

I used Pinterest while planning my DD’s wedding, which was a week ago. It was great for so many ideas. Also have used it for hair styles, room color paints, and dresses. Some folks even have a board for books I would recommend.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

That’s one of the things I like about Facebook, too–that I’ve been able to catch up with people I haven’t seen in years and years.

  11. kez says:

TGB is my only social media. I can’t describe the joy that I receive while hanging out with the goddesses – both authors and bloggers alike. Maybe because we all read, but I often agree with everything on this blog – where else can you say this?

I find that by the end of the work day I no longer wish to look at a computer. It is a tool for me to use in my job. Weird, I know.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Sometimes I feel that way, too–but my life seems to be on the computer.

  12. Julia London says:

I think I’ve tried them all. I also have a pinterest account, and while I like sorting through pictures, I don’t really get it as a social media tool.

I like Twitter and Facebook equally. I don’t like checking in at places (foursquare).

Social media is a great tool for staying in touch with readers, or at least I let myself believe that. But sometimes I wonder if it’s another illusion I have created in my little office hovel, you know?

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

LOL! Yes, we need our illusions.

What’s foursquare? I hadn’t heard of it until I saw that pic above.

I’m using Pinterest to organize pics. I don’t know how social it is, except that I can send readers there to see the inspiration for my books.

  13. Barbara Samuel says:

I am a Facebook fan, for the same reason–it feels warm and inclusive to me, more like a community. I do twitter, but it feels like cocktail party.

And yes, I blog and read blogs. The Internet has definitely changed the way we connect.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I always tell myself I should tweet more, but it moves too fast for me.

  14. Madeline Hunter says:

I am only on Twitter, FB, and Youtube. Like you, I tend to gravitate more to FB. The Twitter feed just moves too fast for me—I don’t have the time to sit on it, but maybe I don’t know how to use it right? Anyway, I find your new one interesting, but I’m afraid if I go there I won’t emerge until hours have passed. I do not lack an interest in social media, but I do lack time in a big way!

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Ooh, I just said that to Barbara above! Yes, I just can’t keep up with Twitter.

For me, the Pinterest is going to be a useful tool–a way to collect images for use in the books.

Or so I tell myself. *G*

  15. Erin Knightley says:

LOL – I am *determined* to avoid Pinterest. It sounds right up my alley, and I don’t need a single other time sucking my time! I currently prefer Twitter since I can pop on an off quickly, but Facebook is also a contender since it organizes posts together with their comments.

Sigh – I think I need to just stick with the original social media for the most part – lunch with friends!

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

The problem for me is, I have no time for lunch with friends!

  16. Julie says:

I’m on Facebook, simply because it is so easy to upload photos and things and I can check in on so many of my family members from time to time with that also. I have a Twitter, but since Twitter doesn’t like my Windows phone, I’m rarely on it. I’ve only just learned of Pinterest, so I am not on that yet.

I have a Linked In, but I never use that. I don’t use Foursquare, just because I like a little more mystery and don’t want everyone and their mama knowing where I am at any given moment. ;) I haven’t posted anything to YouTube, but we look stuff up on there all the time. The hub can find all sorts of fishing shows, and I like watching some of the performances on my dancing shows that I missed.

I like some of them, but don’t care for others. Love TGB, though! :)

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I think that’s one of the best things about Facebook–that you can share photos with family easily. It used to be such a pain to attach photos, and now we can all just go to one place to see them!

I’ve never used Linked In or Foursquare.

      1. Archer says:

I like googles online picassa account for sharing pictures.

  17. carla carlson says:

I will tweet, I do YouTube so family in a different state can view, I blog, and Facebook that’s about it.
I personally find it dangerous for you to let people know exactly where you are or where you like to go or friend a billion people.
I don’t know how long I will keep up with this technology, my kids are 1000 times more equipped for this than I am.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Thank goodness for kids! My assistant’s 8-year-old daughter told us how to do something on the computer the other day that even my computer guy couldn’t figure out!

  18. jolene says:

I love FB – it is where I found TGB and many more of my favorite authors along with discovering new ones that are now favorites. I also enjoy pictures with family all over I get to see the kids growing up and keep in touch and they see the events going on with us. I’ve seen pinterest but I’m afraid it will suck more time away. Twitter, I don’t get. I have an account because of friends but it just sits there.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I understand the appeal of Twitter, but it’s not for me. I’ve noticed that my friends who text a lot also tweet a lot. Maybe that’s the connection.

  19. Malea says:

I’ve tried them all, Sabrina! I teach in a digital rhetoric graduate program so knowing how different social media sites work is part of my job.
Love Pinterest right now, still a FB user, and sometimes tweet.
    M

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

That sounds like a very cool job!

  20. alyssa says:

i am not a facebook or twitter fan. i dont want to know who ate where and when and with whom and it seems that is all my kids and friends do on those sites. i also don’t want the loss of privacy. i never heard of Pinterest. but after reading your post i spent 45 minutes this morning just getting to know the site. Thank you for writing about it. i am a history buff and think i just might forget every chore i have today and play on Pinterest.I learn some very interesting things on the blog. you goddesses are great

    1. alyssa says:

very interesting things oh “the goddess blog ” i meant to type

    2. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Alyssa, it’s really a great place for history buffs and recipe hounds and photographers, it seems to me.

  21. Sheridan says:

I have been on all of those at some point. I tend to stick with Facebook, blogging and sometimes Twitter. I have had a Pinterest account for a year or so and found it great as idea boards for shoots, crafts, props and things, I did not, and still don’t, use it as a social tool. I think that is mostly because I use it for my own needs – those boards are much easier to store than my magazine clippings and files of images. (though I cleaned it out recently, so it is rather sad looking at the moment)

I think the only one on there I have not used is LastFM.

While I will try most new things, I don’t adopt them all nor do I spend time on them if they are not my thing (Twitter, FourSquare, Instagram, MySpace) I do love craftgawker and foodgawker, though again for my own use, not as a social tool.

I keep my LinkedIn up because there are now companies out there that cull applicants if they don’t have a LinkedIn presence for them to go over (I freelanced for one) and it can be a great place for professional networking.

As far as long term enjoyment? I am getting tired of FB – not my friends and those interactions, but their interface keeps getting less “homey”.. I see that getting worse with their IPO. I like G+ a lot.. but it has not taken off with people, so it is not as engaging.

I am waiting for teleportation to be invented so I can meet up with people easily in person – still my favorite form of social media :D

    1. dbrown3400 says:

I’m with you on the teleportation. There are many times when I’d lake to be face-to-face with someone rather than interfacing with them over a distance.

    2. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Ooh, teleportation! You need to get right on inventing that!

I have friends that use Pinterest as a sort of social thing, but I really see it as an organizational tool. Looking forward to filling up my boards.

  22. dbrown3400 says:

I used to be a FB junkie, playing all the games and having a myriad of friends I didn’t know. I’ve eliminated all but the ones I know (I find I’m still eliminating) and now use it to connect with friends I knew in high school, new friends I’ve met, family, and author friends I’ve met or read their books. I do post to several blogs, but the only one I check every day is TGB. I don’t use any of the other ones you mentioned, although I did try Myspace eons ago. I do enter sweepstakes I find on the Internet as well as peruse shopping sites occasionally. I don’t have time to do much other than that. Oh, and I hate texting!

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I never did have any interest in the FB games, I confess, or the apps. The only games I play are computer card games–Spider solitaire, hearts, and free cell–and I have to watch that because I get obsessive.

  23. Cheri Champagne says:

I’m an avid Facebook user. I’m on it ALL the time. I’ve never used Twitter, and I have no clue how it works… I just find it confusing, and I am, therefore, not interested. I have used Myspace, but I dropped my account about 6 years ago. I didn’t like it. I’ve watched movies on YouTube, and I’ve posted one or two videos myself, but I’m not often on there. This is the only blogging site that I’ve ever willingly been to. I simply adore you ladies! :) No, I’ve never tried Pinterest, but I’ll check it out.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I never did try Myspace. I didn’t like the look of it!

Glad you enjoy the blog, Cheri!

  24. KJ says:

I’m on Facebook and it serves well to keep me updated on friends that either we are too far apart (like the several I have in Europe, and even more the few that are all the way in Aus or NZ- the time difference kept us in a tizzy before) as well as those who seem to be freakishly busy. I also joined Twitter, but that was mainly because of a couple of die hard close friends who HATE Facebook…though those same friends are also frequent texters so I really could probably keep up with them that way as well. ;)
Don’t bother with Linked in since I’m a stay at home mom, I just don’t see the point.
Also haven’t caught on to the whole Instagram ting either, though I have been on Pinterest for a few weeks now (finally biting the bullet) and I really like looking at all the different ways people organize some of the same photos or ideas, it’s fun and quite interesting…though at the same time I’m constantly aware that it is really just a new time killer. hehehe
Love Youtube, but then I was a part of the MTV generation (you know, back when it was actually MUSIC Television) and love the videos. The others have not even made to the point of consideration yet…they seem, at this point, that they would just be redundant. :)

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I don’t even know what Instagram IS!

I love Youtube, too, but I don’t put videos on it. Except for book trailers.

I too have a good friend who hates Facebook and only does Twitter. Groan.

  25. Haley says:

Social media is quite facinating. It’s amazing to me that 10 years ago (even 5 years ago) we didn’t have most of it, and now it’s daily life! I enjoy Facebook, but not so much Twitter (something about too much information–Foursquare also falls in to this category). I do used LinkedIn for work, but probably not to it’s full potential.

Love, LOVE Pinterest. It has great ideas for gifts, home improvement, recipes, etc. A few weeks ago, my friends and I planned a baby shower just by typing in “baby shower” in Pinterest and sorting through all the ideas.

I also really like blogs. I blog myself, but also read many others. It’s a fun way to get ideas and learn more about other peoples view of the world (or lack thereof). :)

    Happy Monday!

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Ooh, good idea to search for ideas on Pinterest by putting in a key word. That should have occurred to me. Sheesh!

  26. Margaret G says:

I love FB. I don’t get Twitter at all. I’ve tried it several times, but it’s just not for me. Most of my family uses FB. So, it’s a great way for us to keep up with each other.

My daughter-in-law turned me on to Pinterest about a month or so ago. At first, I didn’t see the point. Now, I’m addicted. I have numerous boards. I look at it as akin to those collage things that are supposed to help reveal your true personality. Or something like that. Anybody ever done one of those?

YouTube is the go-to place if I want to see a demo of some technique I’m trying to learn. Plus I like funny ones. Currently, I’m learning to make amigurumis and YT has been a tremendous help there.

I used to have a MySpace. It’s probably still there, but I haven’t dealt with it in ages. I have blogged and have a blog, but fell by the wayside on keeping it current. I also have a web page that’s pretty static. I also IM & text but I don’t think that falls under the Social Media heading.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

      What’s an amigurumi?

Yes, I like YT for instructional videos. It’s a great resource for that.

  27. Suzanne Enoch says:

It’s facebook only for me. I only produce so many written words in a day, and I want as many as possible to go into the book I’m writing. *g*

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

That’s the nice thing about Pinterest–very few words and lots of pictures!

  28. aida alberto says:

They’re saying that if you repin certain pictures and photos on Pinterest you’re opening yourself up to be sued because the person with the rights to the picture may not have allowed Pinterest to use them. It’s fun but I just don’t need one more thing to add to my list right now. I’ve got a lot going on.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

aida, you do have to be very careful about copyright, but I feel like I know the rules and can respect them. I hope so, anyway!

  29. Rachel Gibson says:

Facebook and Pintrest. And of course, blogging. I really don’t understand the appeal of twitter.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

      Me either.

  30. Archer says:

I liked myspace because I could custom design my page, but alas all my friends are on fb so sadly so am I :)
Deleted googl+ after I noticed that when googled my picture showed up on my friends list in google search. I really wish the complete privacy feature was default instead of having to later learn that you have to turn on privacy features! I like youtube, but never got the whole twitter thing. Foe me twitter is like a bad commercial with too much unneeded info.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

LOL about the bad commercial! I haven’t even tried Google + I wonder if it will catch on?

      1. Archer says:

It’s not user friendly enough so I doubt it :)

  31. E.R. says:

I’m a blogger. I have blogs that I comment on A LOT. However, I’m proud to say that I’ve held out on Facebook and Twitter (and MySpace). Most of my family have Facebook accounts, but I’m not one of them. I have this one blog that I’ve had for some time, and I’m not stopping on blogging there.

I love being a blog commenter, so long as I don’t have to log in to comment. Now and then, I comment here, too.

Hadn’t tried Pininterest yet. I’m trying to limit myself from the Internet since true “life” doesn’t revolve around it with me.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I need to spend less time on the Internet, but it’s hard. It has so many fun things on it! :-0

  32. Dana S. says:

I like FaceBook, but I lurves Twitter. I have an iPhone, so I can (and do) access it anywhere and everywhere. I feel like conversations are much easier there.
I refuse to look at Pinerest. Can’t do another social media, just can’t! :)

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

But you love recipes! I bet you’d love Pinterest.

  33. SuzyQ says:

My top two social media would be FB and Flickr. Lately I have been using Instagram but more for posting pictures to FB and Twitter than for interaction with other users. I have Twitter, Pinterest (which is totally addicting), LinkedIn, YouTube and G+ accounts also. I wish more people would use G+ and then I would too. And lastly, I check in here often.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

You do more than I do, SuzyQ. I just can’t handle G+ AND Facebook. I can barely handle Facebook! But I have a friend who does it. She says all the geeks love it.

  34. jolene says:

Ok had to share – I was on fb and a friend posted a link to her son’s instagram. If not for you I would have had no clue – Now there are only two I’ve never seen. wuwho! I’m getting caught-up. I bet as we speak there are two three news ones and I’m behind again. :(

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I feel your pain. I’m ALWAYS behind. Still don’t know what Instagram does. *G*

  35. Susan Mallery says:

I’m on Pinterest, too! http://www.pinterest.com/susanmallery I’m following all your boards. I love how visual it is, but I don’t use it as much as Facebook. Facebook has become sort of my second home on the web, after my website.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

      Me, too, Susan!

I think Pinterest is going to be more of a boon for historical writers, because you can put up costumes and jewelry and all that cool stuff that would be really hard to do on your website.

  36. B says:

I seem to be a rarity among you all. I love Twitter!!!! It’s my favorite social network!!! I have almost 23K tweets to this day, and I have less than some of my friends. The thing with Twitter is the fast pace. The back and forth conversation that keeps going and going and can be sparked up by any single post! I love to tweet from class, from the car, from the supermarket, just everywhere. I see somrthing cool, bam, tweet. I’m annoyed, tweet. I’m happy, tweet.

Facebook is more of a tool to keep in touch with old friends and acquaintances, to set up outings with my bffs and gossip on our private group, to comment on my friend’s posts, and keep up with family who lives away. But I don’t use it for conversation itself. Also, it’s GREAT to post pictures on my mom’s wall.

I also do Foursquare. I used to think of it as the Kidnapper’s social network, but once I got it, I was obsessed with becoming mayor of my usual places (Sabrina, Foursquare is basically an App you can check into the place you are, if you’re in a place more often than others, you become its mayor). Some places will give you discounts for check ins, but most people do it for the fun. I NEVER add anyone I don’t know in person on this one, of course.

I don’t get the obsession with Pinterest. It’s okay, and I like looking at pictures of food and pets, but I get on it for five minutes…

Instagram is an App that you do vintage effecta for pictures. You follow people and have followers. I don’t see how it’s much of a social network.

    Google+ is lame…

I’ll do YouTube to post videos of baby sister.

    Yeah, I’m very social…

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Thanks for explaining the ones I didn’t understand! I should have known you’d be into them all. :-)

I think my issue with Twitter is that in order to HAVE a conversation, you have to be on it constantly. I just can’t do that. I’m too ADD. I’d never get a lick of work done.

With Facebook, if there are comments on the topic, I can go right to them at my leisure. I like that.

      1. B says:

You just have notifications sent to your iPhone. Then, BAM, you’re never, ever alone anymore, lol. Maybe that’s one of the things that’s keeping me from reading, though. Page 1 — twitter notification — page 2 — twitter notification — page 3 — twitter.. Blah, I’ll just be on Twitter… :/// But, really, Twitter is my BFF during my classes <3

  37. Charlene says:

I love FB I can keep in touch with family and friends everyday that I normally would not have time to do. I have had to block all the games and such and have only conversation. I have also met some of the nicest people through FB.

  38. Kathleen O says:

I do Facebook and I comment on a lot of blogs of authors or blogs that they guest blog on… I don’t twitter or tweet or anything eles.. I find that some of these things are intrusive to my time spent on other things like reading… Or out enjoying myself.. I don’t even really need my cell phone much.. Isn’t that amazing.. If people want to get in touch with me, call me at home on my landline or send me an email..I have my cell phone on if I am out. But I have it on vibrate and I will not answer it if I am out with someone or in a place were people are dining or at the movies. Nothing is that important that it can’t wait. That’s just the way it is.. I think the art of writing letters and sending cards is a lost art, but not with me… Not to say I am not a social person, I just like to do it more in person that using an object of communication..

I totally understand that. I don’t use my cell phone that much either, partly because my whole neighborhood has a bad signal, so it’s hard to take calls. I do the occasional texting, but very little. Mostly I use e-mail, which my hip brother says is SO outdated. Oh well!

Our family’s newest thing is face to face the grandkids love it on the IPhone. It is neat to be able to see them and talk to them, the IPad 2 is really cool for that!

I’ve got to figure out how to do face to face on my Mac. My parents are going to be spending 3 months in Thailand, and that’s going to be the best way to communicate with them.

  40. Paula says:

I only do facebook and blogs of course. I don’t get twitter and haven’t heard of some of the others.
I use facebook for keeping up wioth friends and I do play some games but not as many as when I first joined FB.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I just don’t like the games. But that’s me. I know a lot of people do like them.

Facebook, which I’ve come to enjoy, and Twitter, which I rarely visit unless it’s to help a friend do promo since I was told it was necessary to online presence. Two blogs; one on my website that is very sporatic and another withe the Ruby-Slippered Sisterhood where, like TGB, the responsibility is shared. Heard about Pinterest and it piqued my curiosity, but I won’t even go look. I need another time-suck like I need a sixth toe or a third eye.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Gwyn, LOL! I know what you mean.

  42. freshechelle says:

    FB – I get it.
Twitter – don’t get it. Most who’ve asked to “follow me” were in the sex industry.
Google + – I expect tumbleweeds to appear whenever I log on there
FourSquare – are you kidding me? Why am I telling the world “HEY, Now would be a good time to rob my house!”
Pinterest – I missed a dinner with several old friends tonight because I can’t keep track of my real life, where would I find time to create vision boards?
LinkedIn- VITAL!!! It’s how I got my current position and how I stay connected with useful contacts to help my friends find jobs.

    1. Sabrina Jeffries says:

I can see how Linked In would be vital in your business. It’s just not useful for me.

  43. Pamiam says:

I had a Myspace acct but haven’t logged into it for over a year. Not sure if it is still active. I check Facebook daily when I get home from work but its mainly to catch up with the kids. I did connect with an old friend that moved across the country over 20 years ago. She found me and that was really cool. I do check some author blogs and visit this site daily along with Plotmonkeys but that is pretty much the extent of my social networking. I have never twittered and wouldn’t even know where to start. I seem to be behind the times but that’s nothing new. :-)

  44. Sabrina Jeffries says:

Hey, I don’t tweet much either. In fact, I’m rather surprised I caught on to the Pinterest thing so fast!

  45. ladydawgfan says:

Boy, call me a rebel!! I’m not on any of the aforementioned social media with the exception of Linked In. That account was recommended to me in my job search so I set it up but I basically ignore it because I have no idea what to do with it.

As for FB, I have seen more people lose jobs, scholarships and basic human dignity, all because of what they or some “friend” felt the need to post in a major brain fart moment. Once it is on the web, it is there forever, regardless of whether you have pulled it from your wall. No thanks to any of it for me!! I’ll keep my privacy without needing to worry about someone else’s error in judgement.

  46. Mary Preston says:

I read blogs & comment. All the rest I am just not into.

My brother suggested I would possibly like this website. He was once entirely right. This submit actually made my day. You can not consider just how a lot time I had spent for this information! Thanks!
