For Refreshment Only Sunday (FROS) brings you a touch of class . . .

A touch of classical music, that is.

Last week Miss Sheridan sent me some pictures of a classical cellist.

“A cellist?” you say in a distrustful voice, visions of Band Geeks III The Movie racing through your head.

“I know,” I reply. “I thought the same thing.”

But allow me to introduce you to Sheridan’s cellist. His name is Zuill Bailey. He’s a Juilliard graduate and is an international cello star. He has albums, has appeared with a number of famous orchestras, has won numerous awards, and – in his off months – is a professor of cello at the University of Texas El Paso.

I didn’t know Texas was a cello hot spot, but well . . . there he is. After looking at his pictures, I think there would be more cellist likers – and more cellist hot spots – in the world if they all looked like this:

That’s cello-magic.

So’s this:

Wowza. How about another cello shot? (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

And now, to see him play, just to make certain he’s worth such a fuss:

After watching that, I want to be cello. Now, please.

Happy FROS, m’dears! May your week be as classically perfect as Miss Sheridan’s cellist!

Getting ready to get some sleep and thought I’d see if you’d provided something to build a dream on. A man who looks like a man yet has classical music in his soul? And is expressive when his fingers glide over his instument? Oh, yeah. Thanks, doll. ;-)

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I loved his expression, too. Sexy from head to toe.

  2. Robin RBL says:

Wow, nice! I bet he plays well too! LOL

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

      Lol! That, too. :)

  3. Freshechelle says:

See now the thing about the cello is that hourglass shape. (I don’t know what I’m rambling on about, guess I get nervous around hotties.

Miss Sheridan, you’ve got classy taste. Verra verra dreamy.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

She does have classy taste, doesn’t she? Re-fined, ya might say.

      1. Sheridan says:

        aww shucks :D

  4. Sheridan says:

What a lovely bonus to have found that intense visage accompanying the Bach Cello Suites. *sigh* It made the pieces even BETTER.

and I’ll also sign up to be his cello. :D

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

The way he moves his hands on that thing … made me shivery. SO sexy. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

      1. Sheridan says:

        You’re welcome!

(and that cello is from the mid 1600s!!)

  5. Lori Howe says:

    As a self-professed former band & orchestra geek, I heartily approve…

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

      Me, too!

Nice profile picture, btw. I heartily approve of it. :)

  6. Lori Howe says:

    p.s. hear his voice http://youtu.be/DvBdakpFxkM

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Wow. VERY nice! Thanks for the link. I missed that during my four hour long Zuill video marathon.

  7. Kelly Proellocks says:

Thank you Karen and Sheridan! Music never looked so good!

  8. LilMissMolly says:

He is classical for sure, but his arrogance shows. That’s a turn off.

    1. LouisaCornell says:

LOL When you play the cello like he does, Molly dear, you have a right to a certain amount of arrogance! I will tell you a secret. We musicians tend to be the most insecure people on the planet and the more talented – the more insecure. Our ability to go out on that stage and act as if we are masters of the universe depends on our ability to ACT arrogant. Classical music is a precise art performed on a tight rope of intense emotion. Other genres of music are not quite so unforgiving of mistakes. (I hate to say it, but in some current music I wouldn’t know if they made a mistake unless they fell of the stage and someone told me!) While performing (and that includes interviews) he may come off as arrogant. But if he is like the musicians with whom I lived and worked for years he is backstage trying not to throw up just before he goes on.

    2. Fritzi says:

      LOL! My thoughts exactly!
And transforming into his cello is probably the only way to get his attention ;)
      Nevertheless he plays really divine.
Thanks @Karen + Miss Sheridan for the eye candy.

      1. Karen Hawkins says:

You’re welcome! That Sheridan, always improving us!

    3. Karen Hawkins says:

Really? I didn’t think he seemed arrogant at all, just assured. But yes, arrogance can be a turn off.

  9. LouisaCornell says:

Now wait a minute! When I was performing the cellists I got as accompanists were either intense little guys from Vietnam who thought each piece was a race to see who could finish it first OR bossy Germans who looked like Jabba the Hut and tried to see how long I could sing on one breath. Where was this guy when I was singing?????

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I don’t know but I sure wish there were guys like this in orchestras when I was learning to play the piano. Maybe then I would have oh, you know, practiced and stuff.

  10. Kelly R/W. says:

Music to my ears and an ease on the eyes. Very nice, ladies. There was definitely no one that good looking around when I practiced violin! If there had been maybe I would have stuck with it ;-)

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Kelly, I’ve always heard that the violin is the most difficult of all instruments to play, so brava to you for tackling it!

  11. Barbara Elness says:

Wow, hot and very talented – what a great combination. Thanks for the video, it was fabulous. :D

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

The music was beautiful, wasn’t it? I just went and bought the piece for my ipod.

  12. TinaF says:

    Thank You Ladies.

  13. Susan Mallery says:

Wow, he’s gorgeous. He reminds me of Gilles Marini. Darkly handsome.

  14. Kathleen O says:

Oh WOW.. he can play me anytime, any where..any place…Just Play ME….

  15. Mary Preston says:

I have a whole new appreciation for the cello!!!!

  16. Julie says:

Oooooo….pretty!! Might have to take up the cello!

  17. Monica C. says:

I have loved classical music and the cello in particular for years, but now I have a new appreciation for the cello and everything that can be done with it. Wow. That man is sexy. *fans self*

    Sheridan, you rock.

  18. Monica C. says:

Heeey, look at that, now I am his fan on Facebook. ;) https://www.facebook.com/ZuillBailey

  19. Carrie says:

He is SO HOT. I grew up in Sitka Alaska and he is now the director of the Sitka Summer Music Festival. I ran into him this in July when my husband & I were visiting my parents. I looked to my left and he was standing next to me. His wife and two kids were standing to my right as well. :) Anyway, I go to the festivals just so that I can watch him…I mean, listen to the incredible classical music. He really is amazing. I had the PLEASURE of listening to him perform at a private concert on a boat of about 70 people out in the middle of the ocean. Can you say “zen moment?” It really just doesn’t get any better than that. I can take that off of my bucket list. If you ever get the chance, go to Sitka, Alaska and watch him perform at the Sitka Summer Music Festival – it is WORTH THE TRIP.
