Too much cake . . .

By now, most of you have immersed yourself in two hours of terrific super hero fiction. You’ve admired Captain America’s clean good looks, panted over the bad boy of Iron Man, and shivered at the sheer manly power of Thor.

But like all good things, too much can be harmful. For Refreshment Only Sunday (FROS) wants you to be happy and balanced, so today we’re going to offer you a way to gently wash out your hulkified mind with something simple . . . basic . . . healthy. Like having a fresh, crunchy apple after a diet of cake.

Which means C-O-W-B-O-Y-S.

What’s simpler, healthier, or more basic than a cowboy? So just lean back, sip your coffee, and let the cowboy of it all get you back to a healthier state of mind.

Here we go!

And:

Need some more? No problem! Take a refreshing bite of this little snippet of Cowboy Action:

One last one to make sure you are back in balance:

Ah! Refreshing! FROS hopes your week will be as happy and healthy as these cowboys!

*sigh* Oh yeah, I am feeling so much more balanced now ;) I am one of the few who did not see the Avengers this weekend. Not sure when I will get around to it but do so, I will at some point!

The munchkin is making her first communion today so it will be a day of LOTS of church and family. I might need to come back for a breather or two as the day progresses :) Thank you so much for sharing.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

JenG, we got your back, sister. Go, be the leader of the fam, and then come back and have some refreshing FROS later. We’ll be here.

    2. LouisaCornell says:

Congrats, Jen on the munchkin’s first communion!

  2. Kelly Proellocks says:

Karen, I was going to say that there is no such thing as too much beef cake and then I saw the first cowboy. Now I am wondering if there could be a smokin’ hot set of cowboys (or strippers) in the next Avengers movie? Do you think that they would go for it?

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I’m trying to imagine how adding hot cowboys to any movie could be a bad thing and . . . nope. You’re right. Couldn’t hurt at all. Maybe if they had that picture, they’d work it in. I’m writing Josh Wheedon right now.

  3. Kelly Ryan Watson says:

Last weekend I was was outside enjoying planting mixed containers for the deck. I listened to the frisky birds sing their songs of love to each other. Suddenly I heard clickity clack, clickity clack. To my surprise there were a handful of people riding horseback down the road. One of the horses made its way into my yard, and sauntered along. I wondered why the rider didn’t steer the horse back up onto the road. Then I observed the rider about fall off the back of the poor horse. It seems he was trying to get the last possible sip out of the beer he had in his hand instead of, oh I don’t know, guiding his horse! Need I say that those cowboys last weekend didn’t look anything like these guys?

Thanks for providing us with these gorgeous men. Next time I hear clickity clack I will picture these guys and their great bodies. Not the beer bellies I saw last weekend! Once again Karen, you rock!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Lol! Ah, ugly reality! And please, don’t let it intrude on your fantasies where our ‘real’ cowboys always ride straight up in the saddle, sober, and ready to rescue a deserving damsel in distress.

  4. Julie says:

    Yummy!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I said the exact same thing, especially about the first guy. :)

      1. jam says:

by gosh, we are agreed on that one! definitely the first guy sent my temperatures soaring higher than the 37C we are experiencing right now from where i am…gawd, i need to dunk a whole liter of iced water on me now….*wanders off*

  5. Susan Mallery says:

See…. *this* is why three gorgeous cowboy brothers are moving to Fool’s Gold this summer! I got to live with men like this in my head for almost a full year, as I wrote their books. Sighhhhhhhhh! I love my life!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Heh! We love that you have this life so you can share your ‘head movies’ with the rest of us. Please keep writin’!

      1. Carrie Evans says:

I’m glad you all share your “head movies”!!!!! Thanks, Ladies!!

  6. Judy F says:

Bless you Karen, just what I needed to perk me up today.

      You’re quite welcome!

  7. Nancy In NC says:

    Love a good cowboy!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

      And a bad one, too.

  8. Debbie D says:

Nothing like some nice cowboys to refresh the eyes! Haven’t seen Avengers yet… waiting for the SO to finish the show run so he can go with me. Do want to see it for Thor… Wowsers, what a man!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

And now you can eye some cowboys, then get some Thor, then come back and eye the cowboys. Sort of a ‘palate cleansing’ so that you can enjoy the full Thor of it all.

  9. Pat F says:

What a sight for a Sunday morning…much better than the newspaper!
It’s kind of dreary here in coastal N.C., but who needs sun when you have COWBOYS!
    Thanks Karen….

Yippee Kay yay ay! Those abs are the perfect inspiration to go see my trainer today.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

You know, I looked at those abs and didn’t feel the least motivation to do anything other than lick the screen. I need to find ‘see the trainer’ motivation. Hmmm. Maybe if I look at it with one eye closed . . .

  12. Dani says:

Gulp. What a way to wake up in the morning! They certainly don’t grow cowboys up here in NH like that. Not that there are many cowboys anyway…but I sure do appreciate those pictures! Wow! Thanks Karen! :)

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Dani, I’m glad we were able to start your day out with such a kick! That’s what FROS is for, to begin your day/week with a bang. :)

  14. Pamiam says:

I think I will find a cowboy story to read just so I can put those *ahem* faces in my mind while I read.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

There you go. I think Lori Austin might have a few of those … and then, don’t forget Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold books. Those are cowboy-tacular, too.

  15. dbrown3400 says:

Yeehaw and ride’em cowboys! Can’t leave out any of those big boys, now can we? Thanks for starting my day off with such rousing refreshment. Never once have you failed to entertain me with your FROS selections. Keep up the good work!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

D, thank you. :) I”m glad you approve!

  16. Maureen Hubley says:

Just finished reading about Rafe Stryker in SUMMER DAYS (Fool’s Gold new book) and because I need another cowboy fix I will start BIG SKY COUNTRY by Linda Lael Miller. Nothing better than a cowboy of any age!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

  18. Sharon F says:

As I sit here drooling, I only have one thing to say…..YUMMMMM

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

And YUMMMMMM covers it very well, too. Well said!

  22. Nickie Fleming says:

Those cowboys sure look gorgeous! Wish you could send one (or more)my way… ‘cus here in the Belgian jungle of houses, streets and car, there is no more place for rural life.
But I do have a picture of my great love (the one who disappeared) and he looks quite delectable too … I keep it close to heart.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Nickie, cowboys are delicious. I’m glad we gave you a little mental escape from your urban jungle, even if for a few hours.

  23. dianna levine miller says:

does any one know the name of that pelvic muscle alongside and just below the love handle on a man? that has to be one of the most enticing muscles on a man’s body…

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I agree. And I don’t want to know the name because scientific names lack imagination and besides, ‘that special erotic muscle’ is good enough.

    2. Freshechelle says:

      Polykleitos girdle or Apollo’s Belt.

  24. LouisaCornell says:

    Yeehaw, y’all !! I think an old-fashioned round-up is in order, ladies!

Rope ‘em! Brand ‘em! and Ride ‘em! Who’s with me?

Makes a girl proud to be an American!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Louisa, I know I’ve said this before and will probably say it again, but I like how you think. YEHAWWW!

    1. Kelly Ryan Watson says:

Be here every Sunday, Lorene. You will enjoy! (Oh, and it’s good throughout the week too!)

  33. Lana Baker says:

I had to stop on that first picture for a few moments, to recover. As much lovely armcake as was in the movie, that first lovely fellow is much hotter than anything I saw in Avengers this morning! And then there were more. I had to stop to recover more than once. I’m not a spring chicken anymore, you see. ;D

  34. Jen B. says:

Thank you. It’s been a long weekend and my hubby went out of town today. I miss him.

  35. Janae says:

Since my dh had to work at a movie theater for a preview, and this would be his 7th day of work, I decided that the family should join him at work. While he was working on setting up the preview, I took the kids to see Avengers. It was definitely eye-popping yumminess. And now, I’m finishing my day with some simple cowboys. I probably would have never left Montana if the cowboys there looked this good.

  36. Mary Preston says:

    PRETTY!!!!!
