A Chuckle for You

I’ve been saving this video to share with y’all.  I have it on my computer, my ipad and my phone because it cracks me up.   So here’s a chuckle for you.  I know you were all waiting for an update on Reggie.

And if you enjoyed that laugh, I hope you’ll run and out and get a copy of ZOMBIE ISLAND (A Shakespeare Undead Novel) which is available TODAY!!!

Night Owl Reviews said:

” . . . the funnest retelling of The Tempest that I’ve ever read. ”

And Publishers Weekly chimed in with:

“[a} skillful and often deeply touching retelling of The Tempest . . . [with] deeply sensual meditations upon love, adultery, sex, longing, and forgiveness. ”

If you’d like to read an excerpt, you can do so here:

To celebrate RELEASE DAY, I’m giving away a Dismember Me Plush Zombie to one lucky poster (chosen at random).

Are you a Shakespeare fan?  Why or why not?  If you are, pick up a copy of ZOMBIE ISLAND!  If you’re not, pick up a copy of ZOMBIE ISLAND, because this is Shakespeare like you’ve never seen him before.

I do like some Shakespeare and other times he drives me nuts. I fell in love with it during high school.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I was intrigued in high school. But that’s high school.

  2. Judy F says:

    Love your puppy.

I am with Kelly sometimes yes other times no.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I love the puppy too. He cracks me up all day.

      1. Judy F says:

My sister just got a Westie puppy. She has figure out how to get up the stairs but not down them. Its too cute.

        1. LoriHandeland says:

Reggie is still afraid of the stairs, which worked really well when we took him along to move youngest son home from his second floor apt at college.

  3. Kelly Ryan Watson says:

Oh my. Reggie has got so big! Thanks for making me laugh! Okay, Shakespeare. I like some stuff, but not all. I was high school age when we read him though. I remember the teacher having to explain a lot of it to us. I wonder if I would understand it more if I went back and read it now. Who knows, my TBR pile is huge, but I can tell you that there is not any Shakespeare in it. Two more books get added to it today! Congrats and good luck! Go celebrate!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Thanks, Kelly. That’s a lot of Shakespeare for HS! Wow.

  4. Kathy says:

LOL at Reggie! puppy version of floppy kid not wanting to move for ya! too cute!
I got to snuggle 2 greyhounds this weekend. it was a long weekend for us Canadians, so I went to PEI and stayed with a friend. Greyhounds are such couch potatoes! I am too, so we got along really well!lol
I read the requisite Shakespear in school and I’ve seen a few movie adaptations, but can’t really say I’m a huge fan.
The heroine always dies or ends up alone. that is just sad!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Yeah, the tragedies are pretty tragic. I also hope for better things.

  5. Freshechelle says:

I wasn’t really a Shakespeare reader, more of a watcher but you’ve hooked me. To the downloady machine thingy.

That Reggie – he knows what he wants and doesn’t want. Very funny.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

That Reggie gets said a lot around here.

  6. Lisa Hill says:

Reggie is so cute! He is getting big too! I do love Shakespeare and cannot wait to read “Zombie Island”. Congrats on your new release!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

He’s about 30 pounds now. Seems small yet but his paws are HUGE.

  7. Karen Hawkins says:

Lol! That’s too funny! Reggie looks like he has a ton of personality. I love big dogs. They rock. :)

As for you, I’m off TODAY to get ZOMBIE ISLAND. I’ve heard such great things about it and it’s my little reward for having finished my last project. I can’t wait!!!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

You finished! I’m jealous. Congrats on your release. I plan to pick up my own when I do my book visiting today.

  8. Pesky says:

    I agree with Kathy…liquid child syndrome. :D

Awesome on Zombie Island, I’ll swing by my B&N today.

    Happy release day!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Thanks Pesky! I had one of those liquid children. He wasn’t as funny as Reggie.

  9. Gail Nichols says:

That’s how my teenagers act when they don’t wanna do anything.

I love Shakespeare especially when “Romeo & Juliet”.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Oldest son keeps telling me Reggie is in his “teen” stage. I agree.

  10. Amanda says:

    Too funny. Thanks for sharing.

Shakespeare is ok to me. I took a high school class dedicated to it, and my class mates made fun of me because I could pick up on “ye olde English”. I liked Othello. Seemed to me there was lots of the suffocating kind of love going around our high school. I kind of took that as a life lesson.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Lots of lessons in Shakespeare. Othello is a scary one.

  11. JenG says:

OH MY GOODNESS! Reggie is SO cute. I’ve been there with the
“drag him thru the yard” days. Thank goodness he only weighs 30lbs so far. Just wait till he is twice that and you have to drag him squirming thru the yard. :)

Congrats to both you and K-Hawk on your new releases! Got gift cards burning holes in my purse ;)

    1. JenG says:

Oh, and I too was a Shakespeare in HS person. I hated MacBeth but loved most of the others… Tho, Othello came in college and I didn’t like that so much :(

    2. LoriHandeland says:

I keep saying the same, Jen. I can still pick him up but what happens when I can’t. He definitely needs a second level puppy class.

      1. JenG says:

I think you will need bigger biceps! My boxer, Boz, weighs around 75 lbs ish and if I try hard enough, I can still pick him up when I need to. He doesn’t like to jump up in the car so I have to haul his lard up there myself. Guess the height on my Explorer is a bit too intimidating for him.

        1. LoriHandeland says:

Reggie won’t jump on or off the bed or into or out of the car. Big baby.

  12. Toni S. says:

I do like Shakespeare. If I can find this, I will pick it up or I may just get it on my kindle.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Great, thanks!

  13. Claudia Welch says:

Reggie is adorable! Puppies have to be adorable. Otherwise, we’d kill them. ;)

I love Shakespeare! I can’t wait to read your twisted (in a good way) version of him. I’m hitting the bookstore today! Lots of good books out right now. ZOMBIE ISLAND. THE TAMING OF A SCOTTISH PRINCESS. CRAZY ON YOU. UNBUTTONING MISS HARDWICK. I’m going to have such a great Memorial Day weekend, devouring all these fun books!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Sounds like the perfect weekend!

  14. AmyS says:

LOL!! I am glad to see that it isn’t just my dog! My 4 month old Lab does this to me all the time! When I am walking her, I feel like people in the neighbourhood are watching me and laughing. I am trying to clicker train her, and that seems to be helping a little bit.

I have liked some Shakespeare and some not so much. I enjoyed it a lot more when it wasn’t a forced read for school.

Good luck with the new release!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

We did some clicker training at first. Probably need to get back to that. He still comes running when he hears it.

  15. Monica C. says:

Reggie made me laugh. I have never seen anyone drag their dog through the yard. Reggie may very well be in his teenage stage, because I AM familiar with teenagers who react in a similar manner…

As for Shakespeare, I love Shakespeare. I have loved Shakespeare ever since I was a young teen. I, too, took a class in high school dedicated to it, and I’ve acted in several of his plays. Much Ado About Nothing is my ultimate favorite of his plays, but I enjoy them all for various reasons. The Tempest + zombies sounds like practically the best thing ever.

Congrats on your release day, Lori. :D Congrats to Karen, too!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I had great fun on the island of zombies!

  16. Sabrina Jeffries says:

    Reggie is adorable!

Happy Release Day to both you and Karen. I’ll be running out today to get your books (and Deb Marlowe’s). Ooh, lots of good books to read!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

It is a busy day in book land!

  17. LSUReader says:

Happy release day to the Goddesses!

I remember reading quite a bit of Shakespeare in high school and college. That’s been quite a while.

Thanks for sharing Reggie. Too cute.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

As Claudia said, he’s lucky he’s too cute.

  18. LauraR says:

Happy release day! I had to watch Reggie’s video twice. Too funny.

Shakespeare’s comedies appeal more than the tragedies. Saw The Tempest in Ashland, OR, at the Shakespeare festival. It was presented on the Elizabethan stage – a replica of what the play may have been originally performed on. Too cool.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Oh, I would have loved seeing that!

  19. Julia London says:

I love Reggie!! Reggie can come visit me any time he wants. And of COURSE I am going to pick up Zombie Island.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

There are days I would ship him to you on the next plane. And days I hug him and cuddle him and squeeze him and kiss him.

      Sad.

  20. aida alberto says:

Congrats on the new release. Looking forward to picking it up. Love the Reggie video.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Thanks, Aida!

  21. Kelli Jo Calvert says:

Oh, but, yes, of course, I am a Shakespeare fan!! From the first time I ever read anything by him – I just fell in love! The multiple layers of what he is saying – you have to listen carefully, it’s not just the top, obvious layer!! And all the allusions and innuendo and subtle comparions! Ah! Love love love him!!!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Exactly!

  22. Sheridan says:

I do like Shakespeare.. I don’t like actors who perform Shakespeare who just recite the lines for how they sound rather than what they (and the characters) are saying. When I first read his plays and sonnets, I was in high school and my grandmother bought me a collection of his works. I have not read them all in a while, but still have a fondness for that book.

Happy release day!! and Reggie is TOO cute. :)

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I had never read the sonnets until I wrote these books. Love them!

  23. Pam G says:

Happy release day Lori!! I can’t wait to read it!!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Thanks, Pam!!

  24. Jamie-Lynn says:

I’ve never liked Shakespeare. The stories I was forced to read in school I could never really figure out and because of that I’ve never tried to read any of the others to discover if I’d like them.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

That probably happens to a lot of people. It’s too bad.

  25. Rhiannon Rowland says:

I had a hard time understanding Shakespeare, but think I would really have enjoyed them if I could. I do like some of his plays, and I especially enjoy when they make them into movies! LOL Then I Get it!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I would love to see some performances. Have only seen movies not theater. I think theater would be very interesting. As Shakespeare was meant to be. Without the zombies.

      1. miranda says:

I think you should do a research trip to London to watch his work in the reconstructed globe theater. I know I was sad when I couldn’t because we were headed home a bit before the next run started.

Congrats on the release, once again great job on the book. I think I’ll have to reread it shortly :-) .

  26. Grace says:

Yes, I am a Shakespeare fan and I have read many of his books!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Yay, Grace!

  27. Janae says:

    Reggie is absolutely adorable!!

I love Shakespeare. I grew up going to Shakespeare in the Park, and now, I take my kids to Shakespeare by the Sea. I think that they enjoy it more than my dh. But there’s one play I absolutely cannot stand – Romeo and Juliet. In hs we had to read it, listen to it, watch the Zeffirelli adaptation, and then, watch West Side Story. I love his sonnets, too. He’s so clever and witty.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Watched West Side Story the other day. It still ends badly. Sigh.

      1. Janae says:

Only a man would have a “romance” where both the H/H die and call it a love story.

  28. Nickie Fleming says:

Looks like that dog has a mind of his own! Don’t mid that, I used to have a cat with a suchlike character (called Pluche).
Hm, that tear off the limbs doll would have been to my baby sister’s liking (although… she prefered tougher material, especially the dolls I had cherished for years!.
And yes, I do like Shakespeare, so I’ll have a read in

  29. Nickie Fleming says:

And yes, I do like Shakespeare, so I’ll have a read in your Zombie Island book and see how I like it.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

      Hope you enjoy it, Nickie

  30. ladydawgfan says:

Reggie is tooooo cute!!! I also watched the video twice.

As for Shakespeare, I don’t recall reading too much of it in high school, but that was a long time ago so I could be wrong. In college however, I had an Honors Composition instructor who loved the classics so I was reintroduced to Shakespeare, if you will, including King Lear, Othello, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Taming Of The Shrew and the Sonnets, among others. I loved them and while others in the class struggled with parts of them, I didn’t have any trouble for which I thank my passion for romance novels.

    1. LoriHandeland says:

I’ve watched it quite a few times myself!

  31. Susan Mallery says:

Congratulations on the release of ZOMBIE ISLAND! Excellent reviews. Even the undead are excited! :)

And thank you so much for posting that video. I needed a good laugh!!!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

The undead are excited. Snort. Good one, Susan!

  32. Suzanne Enoch says:

    Love Bill S!! *g*

And I have my copy of Zombie Island downloaded on my Kindle, waiting for me!

    1. LoriHandeland says:

Took me a minute to get Bill S. I’m so slow.

  33. Carla C says:

I have always LOVED Shakespeare. I find that his works are a study within human nature, society, and the self. One work placed over 100 years ago can still be relatable in the life and society today. My favorite is Othello, one who loved not wisely, but all too well – the story of jealousy, betrayal, that evil does lurk in those close by

  34. Pamiam says:

Love the zombie plush. I haven’t read anything by Shakespeare since high school….many many moons ago but I will be reading this book

  35. gibson les paul junior says:

Hi there, simply turned into aware of your weblog thru Google, and found that it’s truly informative. I am going to watch out for brussels. I will appreciate if you proceed this in future. Numerous people will be benefited from your writing. Cheers!
