For Refreshment Only Sundays (FROS) checks out zombies and vampires and Shakespeare, oh my!

Goddess Lori Handeland’s newest book, ZOMBIE ISLAND, is on the shelves and I have it in my hot little hands. I’ve already dipped my toes in it and let me tell you, this book is chock full of potentially deadly – and sexy – characters.

The sexiest creature of all is vampire (yes, sexy vampire) William Shakespeare. Whenever I think Will Shakespeare, I think of this:

Or this:

Sexy, powerful, and dangerous ... NOM NOM NOM!

And who could forget this:

[/caption]

The sexy men of Tudor England aren't afraid of zombies.

Well, Zombie Island has all of that and MORE.

And, for your delectation, a few words from the romantic bard himself from A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM:

That very time I saw, but thou couldst not,
Flying between the cold moon and the earth,
Cupid all arm’d: a certain aim he took
At a fair vestal throned by the west,
And loosed his love-shaft smartly from his bow,
As it should pierce a hundred thousand hearts;
But I might see young Cupid’s fiery shaft
Quench’d in the chaste beams of the watery moon,
And the imperial votaress passed on,
In maiden meditation, fancy-free.

Oh, say it, Shakespeare, say it!

Happy Shakespearean FROS, m’dears! May your week be as literary – and hunky – as Will Shakespeare!

Karen, that is some amazing Shakespeare clips you found. God bless you for your tireless endeavours to find us new guys to drool over each Sunday.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I slave and slave for FROS . . . and all because it’s such fun! Teehee!

So glad you enjoy it. It’s so much fun to share the FROSian wonder than to keep it to myself. :)

  2. Freshechelle says:

Zombie Usland download complete and next in line after ToaSP. The perfect rainy holiday weekend indulgence.

Thanks for the escape and the eye candy Goddesses. That last picture- why I have I not watched the Tudors? Stupid me.

    1. Freshechelle says:

    2. Karen Hawkins says:

We have rain, too — about to get the tail end of a tropical storm, so the shade sail is down and secured and the patio furniture has been chained to a pole. Now, all I need is a cuppa tea and a good book.

I’ve seen one season of The Tudors and was completely captivated so I ordered the entire DVD ensemble, but haven’t watched it yet. Hmmm. That might make a great weekend — The Tudors All Week. I never thought hosen and codpieces were all that sexy until I watched that show and mmmmmmmm!

  3. Kathleen O says:

I have always loved Shakespere, and to start my Sunday off with Colin Firth… Be still my heart… THANK YOU does not express it enough….

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Oh, I do love me some Colin Firth! He was sexy in this movie even though he wasn’t the hero. I kept thinking that once he swooped his bride off to America that she’d fall madly in love with him and realize that he was the one, after all. Or so I ‘finished’ the movie in my own mind. :)

  4. Lori Howe says:

Thanks for sharing.. I look forward to Sunday mornings to see FROS :-)

oh.. I LOVED ‘The Taming of a Scottish Princess’… you wrapped it up very nicely.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Lori, thank you for both enjoying FROS with us and for enjoying TTOASP! It’s one of my favorite books so far; it just sang for me. I love it when that happens.

  5. Julie says:

Have not seen Shakespeare in Love, but now it is a must see. Thanks for the Sunday morning wake-me-up and glorious FROS. Also the lovely excerpt from the bard himself.

Also, I’m laughing my way through The Taming of a Scottish Princess and having a grand old time!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

dbrown, I looooove that movie. I think you will, too.

So glad TTOASP is making you grin. That’s the highest compliment anyone could ever give me. Thank you!!!

I have to say that I modeled my Shakespeare on Joe Fiennes from Shakespeare in Love. So pretty.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

And it shows, m’dear. It SHOWS! Nom, nom, nom!

    2. Susan Mallery says:
