Your trip started innocently enough: a relaxing cruise in the Caribbean where you enjoy scrumptious food, entertainment and the bright sun as you enjoy your time on desk. One peaceful afternoon, you have settled in your lounge chair with a cold drink by your side, a good book in hand and Paolo, the bartender, catering to your every need.
Then, out of nowhere, a UFO appears above the ship and informs all on board that they were not being kidnapped, but each and every person was being beamed to a deserted island for one year! Now, since these are nice extraterrestrials, they are gifting each person with a few things of their choice (in addition to providing sunscreen, a place to sleep and the ability to make a fire):
- One food item
- One drink (fresh water is plentiful on the island, so you may choose another)
- One book (two if you can really plead your case)
- One album (there is a magical stereo that has electricity and speaker, etc.)
- You can also pick one other thing from your home that will be beamed over
Which items do you choose?
(I opted for kindly aliens rather than an iceberg, that’s been done already – and icebergs are not all that common in the Caribbean.)

My loved ones because I honestly couldn’t imagine being on an island without New Guy and Acheron. It would be hard for me because I would miss M*A*S*H and my other favorite shows but if there’s a tv on the island then I am set.

Hey the others are cheating with their devices :p
- One food item: chocolate
- One drink (fresh water is plentiful on the island, so you may choose another): coffee
- One book (two if you can really plead your case): Uhm, the first “In Death” book
- One album (there is a magical stereo that has electricity and speaker, etc.): This one is hard, I’ll go with Enter The Haggis “Casualties of Retail” because they are eclectic and have a mix of music on that album from rock to celtic with bagpipes etc.
- You can also pick one other thing from your home that will be beamed over: My family

My philosophy is if it fits in my pockets then it isn’t cheating and you might need the iPhone to call emergency services if something happens on the island.
Posted on August 11, 2012 at 8:20 am.
I think the aliens say your philosophy is cheating.. I mean, they are being very accommodating beaming in your faves.

For the food item, I’d probably take potatoes. They’re versatile. Drink, Starbucks. For a book, I’d take the biggest blank notebook I could find. Album, a country music compilation. And one other thing from home would be a pen or pencil. Sounds relaxing!
