Today’s FROS is about the always-favorite Romance Quickie.

For Refreshment Only Sunday (FROS) knows that we’re busy, busy people, and that there are times when we don’t have time for a full four-course romance meal, and only have time for a refreshing romantic snack.

Fortunately, a lot can happen in a short time.

This week, Suzanne Enoch, Christie Ridgway and I released three short stories for your reading pleasure. They are our version of the Romantic Quickie – fast and fun reading for those days when you’re in a hurry. They’re part of the new Lunch Hour Love Stories website built by a group of romance authors for the busy reader on the go.

Suzanne’s story is GOOD EARL HUNTING:

When I read about dashing Geoffrey Kerick, the Earl of Vashton, I kept seeing this:

Suzanne’s story is sweet and romantic, and it made me grin from ear to ear. It was the perfect length for a bathtub soak, too. (How did I read an ebook in the tub, you ask? By putting my iPad Mini in a ziploc bag and making sure it was tightly shut. Voila, waterproof!)

Christie Ridgway’s story, SNOW JOB, is described as fun and flirty, which are exactly the words I’d use, too. SNOW JOB is a delcious and quick read, and I devoured it while my son drove us to the beach and it made the time pass super quickly.

When I think of the hero of SNOW JOB, the sexy Sam Stone, I think of this:

Pretty hot for a man who sells ice and snow for a living!

And finally, we have my romance quickie, THE LADY OF THE TOWER, which I co-authored with my lovely critique partner, Holly Crawford. It’s a fast-paced story that will (hopefully) leave you breathless and grinning.

Here’s what I picture when I think about the hero, dark and sensual Sir Richard Thornton. Forgive the 15 second ad at the beginning; I couldn’t find the video without one.

(Btw, this guys ROCKS his Regency look.)

Happy quickie FROS, m’dears. May your week be blessed with meaningful glances, fast conclusions, and quick satisfaction!

*Drools* Nathan Fillion. *drools more* He is surely a hottie.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

He’s sexy as heck, isn’t he?

  2. Archer says:

I love that Taylor Swift video :)

I’m going to go a bit off topic, but I found this interesting so I have to share. I received a groupon type coupon about getting a personalized romance novel. Anyone ever here of this before? Gotta admit was a little tempted :)

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Archer, that’s very cool! I’ve never heard of such a thing, but I bet you can google some reviews and see what people think. It’s a fun idea, isn’t it? :)

  3. Freshechelle says:

Ah! I’m proud to say those three stories were exactly my first three selections from Lunch Hour Love Stories. I’d love to hanging around here and admire the boys but I’ve got stories to read! Great thing to do for your readers, Goddesses.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Thank you, Fresh! We’re excited about the new venture. It’s something we knew that we’d enjoy as readers, so it made sense to give it a shot.

  4. Karen H near Tampa says:

I clicked your link in the first paragraph and ended on a search page. I then looked and the hyperlink text is http://lunchhouselovestories.com. It’s in the source code twice, so someone’s fingers were really fat this morning.

And, of course, thanks for the FROS. My fave is guy #2 but the guy in the Taylor Swift video is also cute (too bad he’s sooo young).

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

      I’ll fix it. Thanks, Karen!

  5. Kelly Ryan Watson says:

I love me some Nathan! And some short stories! I said I love this concept, and I mean it. I believe it will take off once the word gets out. A friend of mine just read two very short stories that I wrote and loved that she could sit and get through a whole story in very little time. I will devour these in a couple of days when the company leaves! Great job, and good luck!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Kelly, I hope so. It’s so much fun. Let us know what you think of the stories. We’re trying to offer a variety so that we hit everyone’s tastes.

  6. Kathleen O says:

Nathan is such a cutie.. I just love that little twinkle in his eyes… Thanks for starting my Sunday out so great.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

You’re welcome, Kathleen. I adore him and he’s amazing as Suzie’s hero, too. ;)

  7. evlqn says:

Love the FROS and the concept of lunch time reads. I am going to need something like this, new classes start for me tomorrow. Now I can get my fix in without losing study time. Yay me!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

eviqn, all you need is an hour, and voila, you’re hooked up for a relaxing mental break. Good luck with your classes!

      1. evlqn says:

It is algebra this go round.Who really cares what a+c equals?

        1. Karen Hawkins says:

Math … never my strong point. Hopefully, you’ll get through it and can move on and you’ll never have to think about it again. :-/

  8. dbrown3400 says:

Congratulations ladies on your new venture. Lunch Hour Love Stories is a great concept and a good venue for stories that might not otherwise be published. You picked some real hotties for inspiration and as FROS to make our day a little brighter.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Thanks, Donna! We’re very excited about it. :D Gotta love new challenges!

  9. Suzanne Enoch says:

Hey, I pictured Nathan Fillion when I was writing Good Earl Hunting! Of course I always picture NF, unless I’m picturing Hugh.

    Loved that video!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

I don’t blame you for picturing either of them — YUMMMMM!!! :)

As for the video – <3!

  10. Susanna says:

Mmmm…. the guy in the TS video is gorgeous. In fact, I like the whole video – like a little love story in itself. I’ve already bought and read your and Suzanne’s stories, and they were great. Downside: I bought them at night and sat up too late reading them! But I will read them repeatedly, I know. Planning on getting the rest too. I love short stories, and have always gotten the seasonal anthologies that come out. This is a wonderful idea you all have had!

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

Susanna, thank you so much! I’m delighted that you enjoyed them. :) If you get the chance, it would be awesome if you could post reviews. Readers value the opinions of other readers far more than a cover quote from another author.

It’s going to be such a fun site! I love short stories and, while they’re tough to write — it takes a fine hand to get an entire story between so few pages without leaving anything important out — they can be refreshing to read, especially during those really busy weeks we all have.

Starting mid-December, there will be a new story each and every week, so keep your eye on the site. We’ll also have sales and special collections and oh, all sorts of things!

  11. Ginger Robertson says:

This book will definitely be on my shopping list. Thanks for the eye candy.

    1. Karen Hawkins says:

You’re welcome! Eye candy is restful for the brain. :)

  12. denise says:

ahhh, Nathan…sigh…loved him since OLTL ;)
