‘Tis the season for holiday movies.
Those classics that have become signals that the holiday season is truly upon us. We have older classics such as It’s a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street or White Christmas to more modern films that have engrained themselves into the hearts of people everywhere such as Christmas Vacation and Love, Actually.
Some make it a family tradition to play certain movies when decorating the house or just to spend some extra time together as a family and some watch it old-school when they come on network TV – commercials and everything.
So, what do you watch this time of year that adds to the festiveness of the season and what makes you love it so much?

Love Actually – don’t think it requires any explanation to this crowd.

Can I say that I prefer movies with songs in them? Maybe musicales? Well, just saying.
Oh, and I also prefer those animated short flicks. Like The Elf on the Shelf, etc.
I will say, those holiday flicks are always something that I associate with the holidays/seasons.

It’s a Wonderful Life and Holiday Inn. We’ve always watched those. They’re very Christmas-y. I might also be caught watching Die Hard on occasion.

It’s a Wonderful Life was on last weekend & I’m such a sap that my eyes leaked AGAIN when all the townspeople came to the rescue. Even tho I’ve seen the movie many, many times–it still moves me. “-)
My other favorite to watch is Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood in it.

Love all the oldies like White Christmas and Miracle on 34th street. As for the modern, we watch Elf every year because it is touching and hilarious.

We watch the original Star Wars Trilogy. While You Were Sleeping is another holiday favorite along with The Santa Clause. A Charlie Brown Christmas has to play at least 16 times in our house as DD1 is obsessed.
We like “fun” at Christmas.

I love White Christmas and Holiday Inn because I grew up on them. A Charlie Brown Christmas is also a must for me. Yesterday because I could not stand another Spike Jones screeching song I put a DVD of Christmas music on that showed a fire in a a fireplace and just let it go all day, very nice and I didn’t have to pay close attention if I didn’t feel like it.

Bridget Jones Diary= love, humor, HEA
White Christmas= to sing along, feel like a child again
Holiday Inn=to sing alone and feel like a child again
Scrooged=to laugh
tradition states I Must watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation- to piss my pants laughing
A Christmas Carol – the old b&w= to get into the Dickens spirit
It’s A Wonderful Life= to have faith and hope for the new year
Miracle on 34th Street – the original- I love Maureen O’Hara (I also recommend Only The Lonely and The Christmas Box)
The Polar Express- Believe
The Nightmare Before Christmas- with Tim Burton taking on Christmas, what can go wrong
Four Christmases- to look at my family members on the screen
Elf- I know almost every line of this
The Bishops Wife – original with Cary Grant- faith and hope and love
The Santa Clause- reminds me of my children and taking them to see it
Surviving Christmas – Ben Affleck – who doesn’t like action, adventure, and a little mayhem
Trapped In Paradise- Dana Carvey, Jon Lovitz in SNL days – this is funny with a Christmas message
and since I am ready to make a sandwich, Bad Santa
I think I am a secret Christmas addict – I love everything about it

I love Charlie Brown’s Christmas special. Don’t know when it is on this year, but just hearing Charlie depressed about the commercialization of Christmas moves me. Probably because I’m depressed about the same thing.
I also love Rudolph, the classic, and Frosty the Snowman. I guess I’m more of a TV Christmas junkie than a movie junkie

I watch It’s a Wonderful Life every Christmas Eve with my mother. I like Christmas movies. I don’t care if they’re old or new. White Christmas, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version is best), The Bishop’s Wife, Shrek The Halls, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas. There’s more but I’ve taken up enough space.

We watched A MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL the other night. Of course Charles Dickens turned in his grave, but we love it. Except for the OH SO SOPPY song in the middle.

White Christmas
Holiday Inn
Muppet Christmas Carol

Little Women
and many more
