Hoping she doesn’t read this, the gift we are giving my sister is my favorite because it is something she really wants but doesn’t expect. She has wanted a nice camera of her own so she can take pictures whenever she feels like it without using mine. My mom and I spent a lot of time checking out cameras and seeing what type of pictures they took and how easy it would be to manipulate because she lets technology scare her. I know she can do it, she doesn’t know she can do it. I can’t wait!

    1. evlqn says:

She loved it! I was a nice day with her and our boys and then our Mom and I came up to Portland fora couple of days with my g-girls. I was in such a hurry to leave I left two bags of gifts at home. They will get another Christmas in a couple of weeks. Silly Nana, but they said they still love me.

  2. Judy, Judy, Judy says:

  5. aida alberto says:

My niece’s Furby or bike. Can’t wait to see the look on her face when she opens her gifts tomorrow. It’s all she has been asking for her. She’s three so she’s now a lot more aware of what’s going on and keeps asking me if she can rip the paper off the presents when Santa delivers them. I told her that was the best part.

  6. KellyProellocks says:

I am looking forward to giving New Guy his bread machine recipe book and Mr 10 two books on Egyptology.

  7. Freshechelle says:

  9. Sandi in OH says:

We had our family Christmas on Saturday when our son and his family were here. They have lived in NC for about three years. Our grandchildren’s best gift was snow to play in. Ben wanted to go outside to play Saturday morning before it was daylight. Some gifts you just can’t buy. The train set that we gave us grandsons’ is next.

  10. cail says:

I can’t wait to give my DH plane tickets to Central America. I decided to go for the experiential this year, instead of the material.

  11. Amanda says:

I’m giving DH a rice cooker. And a long spoon for his cast irons. Son wants a guitar. He can’t stop talking about it. But, he will have to wait until Santa comes.

  14. Barbara Samuel says:

I found a really gorgeous cashmere scarf for my eldest. It was originally over $100 and I nabbed it for 25. It’s really gorgeous and he’ll appreciate it.

  15. Julia London says:

For some little kids who are often in my house, I bought a bunch of costumes — every character they can think of. Batman, ballerinas, Harry Potter, princess, transformer. I think they will love it and have a blast.

  16. Malea says:

My daughter is pregnant, due January 22nd, so this Christmas is full of presents for her *and* for our granddaughter who’s not here yet. We got her a full nursery full of furniture — brand new baby bed & pack-n-play & car seat, etc. — plus an antique bedroom set. And I might have gone overboard buying onesies that look like concert Ts from the ’70s. :)

  17. JenG says:

I am definitely most excited about giving my munchkin her new bike for Christmas. It has been hiding in DH’s closet for a month now. Poor kid has outgrown her old bike but just recently learned to ride a 2 wheeler. We weren’t going to get her a new one till she did. Elfie, her elf on a shelf, will be sitting on the bike come tomorrow morning. Not sure what will excite her more, the bike or the fact that the elf is sitting on it!

  18. Jo says:

This is a hard one – but I would probably have to choose the tricycle I bought my almost 2-year old daughter. She is going to be crazy for it on Christmas morning.

  19. LSUReader says:

I have a sterling silver necklace for my granddaughter from my favorite jeweler–James Avery, who is from the Texas Hill Country. She’s young, but I want to start her early on the good stuff!

Oh, I love James Avery–he is a wonderful craftsman with silver. Beautiful stuff!!

  20. Julie says:

My favorite gift I’m giving this year is one to my precious granddaughter. Her favorite thing ever (so far in her 16 months of life-lol) is Cinderella. They had a Baby Cinderella at the Disney store and it’s such a beautiful doll. She wanted one so badly while we were just shopping around at the mall around Thanksgiving that the hub and I decided that was what we would get. Can’t wait for her to open that one. :)

  21. Claudia Welch says:

Swedish meatballs. I mean it. Since I rarely cook even simple meals and meatballs take forever and I only make them at Christmas, this is the gift that my family cherishes the most!

I’m about to begin them now. Lots of taste-testing to ensue.

Merry Christmas and Happy Cooking to all!

  22. RobinRBL says:

My Aunt wanted a cover for her vacuum that looks like a maid (so you can leave it sitting out in plain site and not have to drag it in/out of closet) and she mentioned it kind of late, but I was able to find it and its already here!

    Merry Christmas to all!

  23. Rochelle says:

A very cool watch for my DH.

  24. Jen B says:

    Merry Christmas to everyone!
We had family photos taken in Oct. They turned out so well we had over 100 photos to choose from :o It made it very difficult to pick so we ended up making a photo book for my MIL and grandparents (one for each of them). This way they get a coffee table book of family with the best of the best of them. The books turned out so well, that I want one

  25. Sheridan says:

I’m excited about some of the goodies we sent my brother. Dad and I went halvsies and sent him gift cards to get a new TV.

  26. Kelly Ryan Watson says:

I wish I could see my mom’s face when she opens up the book, 65 Things To Do When You Retire. ;) It seems my parents don’t know what to do with themselves now! I also wrote a short short story to my Better Half about our first ten years together.

It’s a simple gift but one we can play with together: a 24-piece set of Play-Doh for Leia. At 4 y/o she’s getting more than she needs, but the other gifts are more in line with Barbies and some little dolls to dress. Her most requested gift is a strap for her guitar. She is getting that.

happy to give boxes of candy

  32. Becky Spires says:

I also found reusable hand warmers for my mother who is always complaining that her hands are cold. I like that she can use them as many time as she wants to warm her hands.

  43. Janae says:

Homemade caramels – I love the reactions I get from my friends who have received them before because they are SO excited to receive them. One friend when he heard that my candy thermometer broke, was ready to go out and buy me a new one. Another friend told me that she had been dreaming about my caramels when I gave them to her this year.
