Lori what a cutie! Gamer Dude and I adopted a furbaby last week and she is a beautiful cat. My two (Acheron and The Biscuit Kitty) weren’t too impressed with Vanille arriving (Acheron was quietly unimpressed yet resigned while The Biscuit Kitty is still hissing on occasion but they will adapt). Depending on how things go with another progesterone test and Gamer Dude having his motility checked, we may not be able to have kids (which would be the answer to my mother and sister’s prayers since they don’t like Gamer Dude at all since he won’t allow them to bully him or I) and end up raising cats and Pomeranians and fostering children since there is a huge need for people to foster troubled teens and children in this day and age.

That’s so lovely that you are planning to foster kids. And a new fur baby! How exciting!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:29 am.
Gamer Dude and I haven’t talked about it yet, we’re just waiting to see how these tests go first. Somehow I don’t think that he is looking forward to getting his motility checked, especially with the price that is being charged for such a test which to my way of thinking isn’t too bad, it could be worse especially since seeing an infertility specialist would result in us paying through the nose.

I love babies when they are brand new. My Mother calls them ‘time wasters’ because we all happily just stand around the cot & look.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:10 am.
Time wasters! LOL! That’s for sure. I could have stared at him forever.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:29 am.
I love babies, our yougest one in the family just turned 6. Wish they would have another. She is a joy.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 6:26 am.
There had not been a new baby for a long time around here.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:30 am.
Ah, so sweet! We have a new baby in the family too, but I am long distance from my newest niece and it is killing me! I’m comforting myself with pics and with hearing how her two siblings are adjusting.
Congrats!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 7:20 am.
I wish Leo were closer but we can still get there in a car so that’s good.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:31 am.
Congratulations. Leo is adorable. I love babies of all kinds except maybe snake babies. I miss our grandchildren who now live in another state. They are no longer babies though.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:18 am.
I think I’m with you on snake babies.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:31 am.
what a cutie pie!
I can just sit and snuggle a baby for days!
there’s a new baby in my family as well. My nephew and his wife now have two boys. Baby Ryder was born early January. Sadly I’ve yet to snuggle the little snorfer. a quick visit while they were still in hospital, but there has yet to be a family function to bring us all together. my niece in law posts pics every day on facebook, which just makes my hands itch to snatch him and snuggle. sigh.
anyone who is fb friends with me can see the cutie in pics and video in my profile
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:42 am.
Oh, video! Why didn’t I think of that? Too busy snuggling.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:16 am.
Your photos give me baby holding envy. Love to hold ‘em, love to give ‘em back when they get squirmy and hard to please.
Leo is a keeper. You all look so content. I’m guessing that’s because you weren’t the ones with weeks of sleeplessness ahead.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 8:48 am.
That’s probably why I was able to get him to sleep and cuddle. Kept handing him to my niece when he squawked. Love that part.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:20 am.
Aww, congrats Auntie!! He looks like a keeper. I like kids….but mainly my peoples children. I also do better with them when they reach the 9-24 month category and are mobile, can feed themselves, etc. (what can I say, I’m the single aunt!). I just headed home this weekend for some time with my nieces and nephews–it was such a great attitude adjustment! Something about when a 2 year old thinks you’re the best thing since sliced bread….
In any case, YES we’re having lots of new babies this year, besides multiple friends and cousins, two of my sisters are expecting in September, and one of them with TWINS (I laughted for a very long time when I got that phone call!).
Happy Monday, and congrats on your new baby!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:08 am.
The idea of twins always makes me twitch.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:21 am.
Awww. DH and I love babies. We just don’t want to raise anymore children. That is why we have a dog. I don’t miss the baby stages. We are, however, starting to ramp into the teen years. That is a lot more mentally stimulating.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:13 am.
I might be romanticizing the baby stage having just finished with the teen stage. No talking? No moving? Sign me up!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:22 am.
I love borrowing babies! They are so cute and cuddly. My cousin had one this fall and he was just cute as a button.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:26 am.
Borrowing! Yep, that’s the word. IV kept saying, “we’ll take him home for a while.” Could not get that past them.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:41 am.
I have a brand new grand-daughter (3 weeks old last Friday) and I am totally in love with her. My daughter lives just a few blocks away so I get to see the baby every day — the two of them are usually here when I get home in the evening and they stay a few hours. Since my daughter’s a single mom, I don’t mind cooking supper & holding the baby, nor does DH. A couple of times last week, baby Lu had some tummy problems overnight so DH headed over to her house in the morning to rock & hold her while she slept so that her mom could sleep as well.
It’s amazing to just see her and kiss her every day! We’re both looking forward to every moment as she grows, but we’re taking full advantage of the snuggly baby stage — it doesn’t last very long!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:31 am.
How fun for you to have her so close! Congratulations!!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:42 am.
Sad to say, I’m not a baby person…I usually avoid children until they are about 26.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:41 am.
26 is another great age.;)
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:42 am.
Adorable pictures. I love new babies, they are so precious. I’ve had 7 myself and one of my daughters just gave birth to her second boy last Wednesday. That makes 13 grandbabies for me now.
The very best part is when I’m ready to leave and hand that precious bundle to Mom or Dad. lol Poor things are so sleep deprived as they settle into a new schedule. But we’re all taking turns helping. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Seven? Seven? You are the best! Can’t imagine. Congrats on the newest grandchild.
My niece kept saying she wished I lived closer ( next door??) so I could be there at 5 am. I’m an early riser. She is not.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:59 am.
Lori, how sweet! What a handsome face!
I was never one for infants, but discovered a talent for soothing them–only after my own were way past that stage.
I love babies, but mainly because there is a baby/toddler in my life who rocks.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:00 am.
Thanks, Barbara. I was not good soothing my own either. Figures.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:19 am.
Fat baby thighs. I could view them and squeeze them all day long. Babies are so outrageously cute and perfect and I love them up to the minute they can string sentences together that start with NO.
.
Leo is adorable!!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:06 am.
The talking is often the end of the charming.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:20 am.
I love babies. Unfortunately my 2 are way past that stage now, they re 9 and 12. We are also heading into the teen years which is challenging to say the least and a battle of wills. Son no.2 thinks he is 9 going on 16!!
Baby Leo is gorgeous
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:10 am.
Thanks, Paula! Good luck with those teen years. We should get a gold star, or something gold, when they are through.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:20 am.
You two are so cute, and the baby is adorable!
My babies are my two dogs. I knew a long time ago that I wasn’t going to have kids. In the meantime I helped to raise one who is like a son to me. I had a couple friends over the other night. One of them has a 3 1/2 month old baby girl that I couldn’t let go of all night. Well… when the screaming started I happily gave her over!
Screaming and talking is about where it ends for me! Kidding.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:28 am.
Thanks, Kelly.
There is a lot of baby talk with the dog baby too. I need to stop but it’s hard.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:46 am.
I LOVE BABIES! But I also love when they start to walk (and talk), too! Since my baby sister Maya was born, I’ve enjoyed so much seeing her growing from a tiny baby to a toddler — she’s at 18 months now, but doesn’t talk — and I love seeing every phase she goes through! She’s amazing, brilliant, beautiful, super adorable, has the cutest cheeks! I’m more in love with her every day!
And no, I don’t like furry things. I’ll keep the human babies, thanks
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:42 am.
Aw, that’s so sweet, B. Maya sounds adorable.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:46 am.
Love babies, but there had been no new babies in our family in 2yrs… and not likely to be any for awhile. I don’t even think that any will be forth coming in the near future.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:48 am.
I was kind of surprised about this one myself. But happy.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:00 am.
I love babies, but nowaday I am glad they can be cuddled and fussed over then returned to their moms
The newest i our extended family is only 3 weeks old, born to my niece.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:16 am.
It’s very convenient to be able to cuddle and then hand off.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:34 am.
I LOVE babies! My sister-in-law just had a little boy three months ago, and I’m lucky that I get to see him every weekend! I have two boys (my oldest has turned 4 today *gasp!*, and my youngest is 2 1/2). They’re in the walking and talking stage, and not as ‘baby’-like. Though as you all likely know by now, I’m pregnant with twins, so soon I’ll have two new babies around the house! I expect that I’ll be very busy…
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:19 am.
Can’t imagine, Cheri. You are wonder woman.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:35 am.
The youngest in our family is our 3 yr old granddaughter. Loved to cuddle her when she was born and still love it. My son got married this past year and they plan on having kids soon so a new baby to spoil is on the horizon.
In the meantime, my kitties love to sit in laps so there is always someone/something to cuddle with.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:20 am.
Reggie would be a good cuddler if he didn’t way 60 pounds and have huge feet. Kitties are probably easier.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:35 am.
I think that couples are so brave to be having children right now. There is so much turmoil in our world. I guess we all hope for a better tomorrow!
We go pick up our Aussie puppy on Wednesday
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:21 am.
Puppies!!! Yay!! A terrible weakness for me. If we had a bigger place I’d have more dogs.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:36 am.
I don’t have any babies in my life! It’s about time I had one or two, don’t you think?
Leo is adorable!!!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:29 am.
Well,not you personally . . .
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:36 am.
What a beautiful dose of adorable-ness on a Monday morning! Congratulations on the new family member!
I’m fine with babies, but I do prefer when they get a little older and you can interact more with them. That goes for human babies and animal babies. But all are adorable and lovely.
And how come I always want to squeeze baby cheeks?? SO CUTE!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:33 am.
We called his mom Pookie cheeks when she was little. He’s got ‘em too. So cute.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:37 am.
Adorable pictures! I love babies. Their tiny hands and how their skin smells, especially the tops of their heads. When my children were babes I was forever kissing their little round heads and just breathing them in – after the diaper changes!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:38 am.
I had a great time rubbing his feet. So perfect!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:39 am.
I confess to loving babies. I worked as a neo-natal nurse for more than 20 years and was a midwife before that. I also love older children – and for some strange reason they seem to like me too! As for new babies in my life – well I am half owner of a 1 year old Tonkinese boy called Sawyer – the only drawback being that he lives in South Africa and I only get to see him again next November!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 11:58 am.
You have had a lot of babies in your life then. How fun!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 12:22 pm.
Love the pictures. Leo is a sweetie. I love babies. I adored my gdaughter when she was an infant and have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with her to watch her grow into the almost five-y/o she is today. Wouldn’t have missed a minute of it, except for the occasional meltdown. Don’t know if there will be other babies in my future. DD#1 says she’s not having any. She showers all her affection on her niece. DD#2 hasn’t eliminated the possibility of any more children, but her life would need to change quite a bit. Single mothers have it rough.
If I had a bigger place, I might get a cat or maybe another Miniature Schnauzer like the one I had years ago.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 12:06 pm.
Occasional meltdowns are understandable. And very cathartic. Sometimes you just want to squall and stomp.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 12:24 pm.
What a beautiful baby – babylicious!!
I love children – babies, toddlers, all they way until they disappear into the tunnel of teenage angst (which I still like, but what a trial on patience and understanding).
I have always been good with them, to the point people say that I should have been a teacher.
I have two, my DH has three and soon to be 15 grandchildren. The newest addition will be born in April. This is his daughter’s 9th (yep, you are not misreading that – 9th).
When you have a baby they smell of heaven and when they open their eyes the mysteries of the universe are in them and then they focus on you – simply awesome. As they develop a sense of discovery and wonder, it is like seeing things for the first time. As they grow so do their personalities and what an amazing thing to be a part of, getting their sense of humor, their hidden talents. Realizing that you are a part of them in one way or another through your actions and even dna makes the universe seem big and small all at once.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 12:25 pm.
It is so interesting and exciting and fun, isn’t it?
Nine? EEEEK!!!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 1:12 pm.
My friend had a baby yesterday. Can’t wait to see her!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
Whee! A very new addition.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 1:13 pm.
I have a new great-nephew too! I met him last Thanksgiving when he was 2 months old and he’ll be visiting next month. As precious as babies are, I really like it when they get a bit older and we can communicate and play together and they get a big smile on their sweet little faces.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 1:48 pm.
I hope you have loads of fun and lots of play time during your visit.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 2:19 pm.
There is a new 4 footed baby in my house. He’s been here a month and is a very mellow 7 months old lab.
Congrats on the new baby, Auntie Lori!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 2:32 pm.
Oh, a lab! We’ve had several. They are very floppy and cute babies.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 2:45 pm.
Gotta love babies! The newest addition to our family is expected at the end of the week–our fourth grandchild. We’re so looking forward to greeting him. There is nothing quite like holding a grandchild for the first time.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 3:05 pm.
I can’t wait! Congrats on your upcoming addition!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:53 pm.
What a precious bundle of shiny and new!
I love babies of all kinds, as long as the leg count stops at four. We just got a 16 month old in our daycare last week and he is so adorable and good natured! He only cries when he needs the southern region tended to.
In April we will get a brand new still under warrantee baby added to our mix and if she is like her three siblings we are golden!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 3:19 pm.
A bundle of shiny and new. Love that!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:54 pm.
I love babies! I would have a dozen if they would just stay that exact size. They smell so sweet and are so cuddley and their baby heads are so soft. I always have to remind myself that they don’t stay that way forever. My youngest is 3 and not very cuddley anymore, but once in awhile I can talk her into climbing up on my knee for a snuggle.
We actually have 2 babies in our family right now. My cousins (sisters) both had babies just days apart. They are about 6 months now.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 3:34 pm.
It’s fun when there are babies so close in age. My niece and my oldest are only a few weeks apart and it was so much fun when they were itty bitty.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:55 pm.
Leo is adorable! I love babies, had three of my own, but I can honestly say that I loved every age with each of them including their adult ages now.
This Spring is going to be so great as one of our nephews, who has two girls and wanted one more baby, is having twins. Then another nephew who is 42 and we thought couldn’t have babies is having their first. We couldn’t be more excited!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:11 pm.
Lots of new and shiny by you. Congrats.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 4:55 pm.
Aaawww, Leo is so cute!! Definite keeper! I’ve 13 nieces and nephews (5 girls, 8 boys) with the youngest turning 3 in May.
After my daughter, I got turned off of babies that I couldn’t hand back to parents. She was a TOUGH baby and toddler – still is even at 9.5 yo in different, but at least she’s interesting.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:09 pm.
You hit the jackpot in the niece and nephew dept. I only had two, but they’re a great two.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:22 am.
I like furry babies.
Do not bring a human baby near me until they can talk and tell me what is wrong.
The newest baby in my family is 17 years old. My dad’s neighbor’s middle daughter had a baby on my mom’s birthday Oct 2011 (would have been mom’s 58th). I visited her in the hospital and have not seen since.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:11 pm.
Oh, and congratulations to all the winners of Anniversary Week.
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:11 pm.
LOL, Tina. It is a mystery what they are crying about sometimes.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:23 am.
Congrats, Auntie! He is a real heartbreaker! Those are some great photos.
No new babies in our family since my niece and nephew were born. They’re in college now. Where did the time go?
No new fur babies at my house, but my neighbor introduced me to his two new pitbull puppies today. A cute pair of black furballs, brother and sister, who immediately ran to greet me when I arrived home today. I was doubly pleased when he asked me the name of the local spay/neuter clinic so he could get them both fixed. You have to understand in this neighborhood (Jeff Foxworthy would cringe at some of my neighbors!) spaying and neutering is not a priority. I’m pleased that my preaching on the subject will allow these two new babies to have better lives. And I’m definitely glad they like me as they are going to be HUGE !!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:20 pm.
I saw two pit bull puppies at the dog store the other day. They are adorable.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:24 am.
And can I just say :
THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !!! for my lovely bookstore giftcard !! I full intend to go on a gluttonous Goddess Book buying spree with it!!
MWAH !!
Posted on February 18, 2013 at 10:21 pm.
Sounds like the perfect activity. You’re welcome.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:24 am.
Babies are soft…and cute…and okay when they don’t cry…and…are babies.
Toddlers are cute…and soft…and energetic…and inquisitive…and are toddlers.
Furries are furry…and cute…and adorable…and can’t talk back to you…and are furry.
The new baby in the house is my cousin’s new baby boy that was just born last month. Hadn’t gotten around to seeing the little tyke, but eventually will.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 1:04 am.
Can’t talk back is one of my favorite things.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 8:25 am.
Love love LOVE babies! Actually, that’s why I didn’t post yesterday–I was spending time with my Munchkin Girl! She truly is a joy. She is a toddler now and has personality for DAYS…at the grocery store, she tells everyone she sees, “hi” and heaven forbid they don’t notice her, then she gets rather peevish and shouts “HI” until they look at her. She does not like to be ignored.
My daughter actually has my dream job–she is in the infant room at a daycare. I’ve always been snuggly, so holding little tiny ones (like that precious little Leo!!) is right up my alley.
Posted on February 19, 2013 at 9:44 am.
As a mother of nine, I still have 6 at home but another one goes off to college this next fall, leaving 5. For awhile I was also raising 3 of my grandchildren. We will be adding a 5th grandbaby this April but I can honestly say I’m glad to be out of the diapers, it’s nice to be able to say goodbye to the grandkids at times.

I like babies when I can fuss over them for a few minutes and then hand them back to their parents. Being the sole supporter for a tiny infant who can’t communicate scares me. My husband is the same way. But we do love children. Therefore, we have decided to give foster parenting for older kids a try. This will have its own challenges, but will allow us to raise a family and help others in a manner that is in line with what we are comfortable with.
As far as baby animals, yes, love them all. We have been fostering kittens and puppies for the local shelters for over 5 years and have had over 150 foster pets in our home! We love helping them and each foster that comes through our door brings us so much joy.
