SQUEEE! I didn’t know they were making Sherri’s books into movies. YAY, US!!!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:02 am.
I believe only her Nick books are being made to movie but I could be wrong on that one. Need to re-research that!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:09 am.
It is the Nick books which I don’t mind, I think that the Were-Hunters are being turned into a television series and one other series is supposed to be turned into an anime. Mind you, it was quite a while ago that I read up on this as I keep missing Sherri’s posts on Facebook.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:13 am.
I really do need to pick up that series. I’ve read all others I think… I own quite a few but they are all the older ones…
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:18 am.
I have read them all and I own almost all of them, I just don’t own all of her Kinley MacGregor books – yet. I think that I might be a *little* obsessed.
Posted on February 21, 2013 at 1:19 am.
I can’t Freind her on fb it always say ” this person has to many Freind’s” talk bout a bummer
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:41 pm.
Sherry, there is an official fan page which has everything that her personal page does. Sherrilyn has 2000 or more people waiting to be accepted as a friend on her personal page.
Posted on February 21, 2013 at 1:17 am.
yeah that was my reaction too!!! OMG can’t wait!
Posted on February 21, 2013 at 6:29 am.
1. I’m reading “One Good Earl Deserves a Lover” by Sarah MacLean
2. Library Book that I asked the director to buy
3. Started reading her series a couple of years ago, and have kept up with the author via amazon and the new releases (for some reason, haven’t added this author onto my Facebook or blog so that I can follow her there).
4. Gaia’s Garden. It is about organizing gardens and planning them so that plants that are “friends” grow together. A lot of great ideas there about planning.
5. “Last of the Mohicans.” I’ve read some of Cooper’s work. Trust me, Daniel Day Lewis as Hawkeye is much, much better than the book.
6. “City of Thieves” by David Benioff
7 & 8. I try not to envision actors/actresses. I try to go with the descriptions that the author has of the character….or I make up my own, which is kind of bad because I’ll envision one as a blonde/brunette, then am disappointed when I read that he/she is the opposite. oops.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:41 am.
Amanda, I just got that book, too. I love Sarah’s work.
And now I’m off to get City of Thieves. I peeked at it on Amazon and it looks intriguing.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:03 am.
I really enjoyed that book. I try to get as many people as I can to read it.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 2:07 pm.
I’m reading SHADOW WOMAN by Linda Howard, in ebook. Amazon sent me an email about it…I’d missed it when it came out on January 1. Nonfiction… I just started listening to THE BOY WHO WAS RAISED AS A DOG. Might be a little too heavy for me. Best book to movie? Don’t know, but did like Les Miserables, both play and movie cut through the long boring parts of the book.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:46 am.
I read Les Mis sooooo long ago that I don’t remember the book other than it was long and made me weep.
I love Linda Howard’s books, btw. When my first book came out, she came up to me at a conference and told me how much she loved it. It made me float on air for about a week. Heck, it STILL gives me a lift.

1. What are you reading right now?
Beach House #9
2. What format is it in?
Print
3. How did you hear about it?
Here
4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately?
Help, Thanks, Wow-Anne Lamott
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made?
To Kill a Mockingbird
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen?
Any of mine
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read?
Joe Manganiello-wow
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read?
No idea-they’re usually all me-30 years ago
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 10:52 am.
Oh, that Joe Manganiello…. *sigh* He is another one of those ruggedly handsome ones.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:02 am.
Lori, THANK YOU. I just googled Joe Manganiello. Wow. He has that ‘very masculine gorgeous male’ thing happening. NICE.
Btw, I do the same thing with the heroines … and the 30 years ago. Heh!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:09 am.
And he’s tall! Win-win.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:17 am.
1. What are you reading right now? The Book of Scandal by Julia London and just finished The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley.
2. What format is it in? both are in paperback
3. How did you hear about it? Found them at Half Price Books–Julia’s in the romance section and Susanna’s in the fiction section.
4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately? I actually can’t remember the last nonfiction book I read….I think it was about the rivalry between Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots.
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made? Well, over the course of the series, I would say the Lord of the Rings that Peter Jackson directed. There were creative changes, but I still thought the films were amazing.
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen? The Fever Series by Karen Moning…the men alone would make it a worthwhile film if they are even remotely as hot as she describes them.
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read? I usually envision the ruggedly handsome type–Clive Owen, Gerard Butler, Hugh Jackman, etc. No stick figure thin guys for me-I like the muscles on them and I like them TALL!
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read? This depends on the characteristics described in every book of course, but I usually don’t have a particular actress portraying the role in my head as I read. Sometimes, if she is particularly plucky, I envision myself.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:02 am.
Julia, I think LOTR is my favorite book to movie translation, too, followed by Harry Potter. They did an amazing job trying to stay true to the books.
As for your heroes – muscled and tall – I LOVE that and it exactly fits my requirements, too.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:10 am.
Julie,
I think I heard that there was talk of a movie for the Fever series!!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:11 am.
Karen, totally agreed on the HP series as well. I thought the later films were especially well done.
JenG–I would LOVE it!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:21 pm.
Oh–can’t believe I forgot to add Chris Helmsworth on #7. Mercy…
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 3:07 pm.
O god he’s sexy he could so def be my hero anyday!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:42 pm.
I am SOO with you about the Fever series movies!!!!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 9:49 pm.
1. Office Politics by Sharon Gerlach. She’s a new to me writer and I’m really enjoying her books.
2. E-book. As much as I love my hardbacks and paperbacks I read so much it just makes more sense to buy e-books.
3. I have a website that I like that sends me e-mails about free or book sales and she was on the list. Checked it out and got her first for free. Liked it so much I read it all 900 pages in a little over a day period. Told you I read a lot.
4. For me that would be anything by Jen Lancaster. Mind you if you don’t like inappropriate language these are not the books for you but I’ve never laughed so hard or much in my life.
5. None. I’m a book purist who will always, always prefer the book over the movie. With the book you can use your imagination. Can’t do that with a movie.
6. None. See above.
7. Johnny Depp. For me it has always been Johnny Depp. It will always be Johnny Depp.
8. None. I like my heroines to emerge as themselves. A lot of what the writer envisioned for her and a little of who I think she is.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:20 am.
aida, I usually almost always prefer the book over the movie, and only books with very big action scenes — like LOTR and Harry Potter — have allowed me to enjoy the movie as much as the book. Never have I enjoyed a movie more than the book, though. Won’t happen, I don’t think.
As for Johnny Depp, you have excellent taste. He’s adorable and such a complex actor and person. Intriguing on all levels!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:38 am.
1. The Edge of Never, by J.A. Redmerski.
2. Ebook
3. One of those-You May Also Like-recommendations based on the books I buy.
4. Sadly I cannot remember the last time I read nonfiction.
5. Hmmm. The Outsiders.
6. There are so many… The Mist by Carla Neggers, but it is part of a series, so I wouldn’t mind seeing all of them from that series made into movies!
7&8. I don’t really have any one person(s) I do that with. I try to envision the person the writer is portraying.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:35 am.
Kelly, I need to pay more attention to who I envision the hero as. I do seem to fit myself into the heroine’s part, though, but as Lori said earlier, as younger me.
I love Carla Neggers, but haven’t read her in a while. I may need to indulge in a re-read this weekend!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:40 am.
I agree with both you and Lori. And when I write a heroine I write better versions of me, or someone who I would like to be, it seems.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 2:28 pm.
1. reading right now..Royal Bridesmaids one of 45 books
2. format e-book
3. Just love the series.
4. have nor read one in a LONG time.

7. OH MAN that is a hard one, Depending on the Hero.
8. same as Number 7.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:43 am.
Is Royal Bridesmaids by La (Christina) Dodd? I know the series name but can’t picture the author.
And Patsi, thank you for mentioning the MacLean and Hurst Series! That made me smile. I may be biased, but I’d love to see both of them turned into movies, especially the MacLean Curse. Just think of the thunder-laded love scenes. Shiver!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 3:40 pm.
The Royal Bridesmaids By Stephanie Laurens, Gaelen Foley and Loretta Chase. They did Royal Weddings and both books are e-books. I can see the Thunder-laded Love scenes..In my mind I see a THOR Thunder type of scene…

1. reading right now..Beach House No. 9
listening to One Good Earl Deserves a Lover
2. ebook & audiobook – depends on if I am sitting or moving around.
3. heard about it here, but I enjoy Christie Ridgway
saw the audiobook on Audible and enjoyed the sample
4. I don’t remember when I last read nonfiction
5. I concur with Amanda on “Last of the Mohicans” and Daniel Day Lewis.
6. no idea
7. Gerard Butler or Clive Owen
8. depends on the story.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:01 pm.
Laura, I read more than one book at a time, too. I have a ‘right before bed’ book which is usually research/non-fiction, and then I have a “for fun” book which is usually open somewhere in my house. Sometimes I’ll start two “for fun” books if I can’t find the first one and need a good read, so I’ll start another only to find it later.
Beach House looks like a blast!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 3:42 pm.
1. What are you reading right now? I just now finished up The Sweet Series books by Maya Banks…they are fantastic!! I almost need to close my eyes and pick what’s next from my tbr pile! I think Beach House #9
2. What format is it in? They were in ebook format, Beach House is paperback (which I much prefer)
3. How did you hear about it? I found a link to it on FB!
4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately? I too sadly cannot remember the last nonfiction book I’ve read, lol…there’s enough chaos and reality in my own life that when I read I’d rather escape somewhere!
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made? ? I don’t watch a lot of movies and any I’ve seen never measure up to the book if I’ve read it.
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen? ??
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read? No one in particular, I have my own vision in my head, lol…
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read? Depends on the story!
Answer away, my friends!

Answer away, my friends!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:25 pm.
Phyllis, oh, The Bride and the Chalice. That sounds intriguing. I’ll have to look that up. I wonder if it’s medieval. I love those.
And oh my gosh, I’d LOVE to see Cotillon made into a movie. Heyer was the absolute best at dialogue, so I know they’d made terrific movies.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 3:56 pm.
IT is the Blade and the Chalice. IT is a medieval fantasy. In the later books, there is even time travel and alternate worlds. Fantastic.

3. Karen Rose’s website
4. Flag of Our Fathers, about the flag raising at Iwo Jima
5. There is no such thing. The book is always better.

Sandi, I have the Rose book but haven’t read it yet. I plan on doing so sooooon.
I need to see Flag of Our Fathers. My dad loves that movie and gave me a copy of it, but I haven’t yet watched it. That may be my new weekend plan!

Nora Roberts’ Bride Quartet Series or Susan Wiggs’ Chicago Fire Trilogy.

8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read?
Again, the author’s description, but every now and then it is me who fits.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:34 pm.
Michelle, I haven’t read Wiggs’ Chicago Fire trilogy, but heard they were good. I have read Nora’s Bride Quartet, though, and they would make an AWESOME movie or a series of movies. The scenery would be beautiful, wouldn’t it? She really knows how to give you a feel for a place.

1. the importance of being wicked by victoria alexander
2. ebook on my kindle
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:39 pm.
alyssa, ohhh, I LOVE Victoria Alexander! Such fun and witty books. I’ve read TIOBW, but I can see that I need to read it again. Ah, I’m going to be so busy this weekend.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:15 pm.
1. I’m reading an ARC of The Crypt Thief by Mark Pryor. It’s a Hugo Marston mystery that’s a follow-up to The Bookseller from last year.
2. Print.
3. It’s a review book.
4. I haven’t read much non-fiction since the books I read on the Tokugawa shogunate in Japan.
5. Not having read the some of the others, I’m still going with Gone With the Wind. Bad ending, though.
6. I’ll go with Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Nick series, although I’d love to see Acheron made into a movie. Styxx isn’t out yet, but if it’s as good as Ash’s book, WOW!
7. I draw my own picture of each character loosely based on the author’s description. I don’t recall using an actor to fill the bill.
8. Same as #7.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:46 pm.
dbrown, I bet that through reviewing you find read all sorts of books that you might not normally read. Book clubs do the same for you — broaden your reading horizons.
I think Ash’s book is my favorite by Sherrilyn Kenyon. SUCH a strong hero. I can’t imagine a better movie character.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:17 pm.
I’ve been considering picking up SK’s books recently, I’ve been hearing great things… Where should I start?
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 5:52 pm.
Good question. She has several series. I’ve not read all of them but I think there’s some overlap. I would start with the Dark Hunter series, which technically begins with the prequel Fantasy.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 8:29 pm.
I’m with dbrown – The Dark Hunter Series is one of her best.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:21 pm.
Love Ash. One of my favorite all time characters.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 8:35 pm.
1. the importance of being wicked by victoria alexander
2. ebook on my kindle
3. i follow this author love her books
4. killing lincoln by bill oreilly
5 i do not see movies of books i have read. the movies are never as good so i like to keep those ” i love this book ” feelings
6. none
7/8 i agree with michelle b i use the cover to viualize character and the authors discriptions. unfortunately sometimes the cover characters arent attracive to my taste so i dream up some cuties
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:47 pm.
alyssa, isn’t Victoria Alexander’s book a joy? I grinned so much!
Btw, it’s probably a good idea not to watch the movies of books that you love. It can leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:20 pm.
1. What are you reading right now? Just started Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz’s After Dark, and just finished How to Abduct a Scot.
2. What format is it in? both are NookBooks
3. How did you hear about it? Email subscription and FB friend feed for After Dark, and How to Abduct A Scot was on the author’s website lol
4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately? The only one I’ve read lately is The Hiram Key, which “investigates” Pharaohs & Freemasonry.
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made? The Hobbit is my favorite, I think.
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen? I recently read the Jane Yellowrock series from Faith Hunter, and they really captured my imagination. I’d love to see those in a movie.
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read? I honestly sort of make them up in my head rather than trying to find an actor to fit the role.
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read? None, really, although Dame Judy Dench has slipped in now and again..Love her voice
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 12:53 pm.
Kim, oh, I need to see The Hobbit. The movie trailers were excellent and I loved the cast. Can’t wait to see it!
Dame Judy Dench is one of my all time favorite characters. I LOVE her voice, and her toughness, and how well she’s aging. She’s lovely.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:22 pm.
She’s not my all time favorite character, but my all time favorite actress. Sorry! She does play some of my favorite characters, though!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:23 pm.
I just have to say, Richard Armitage was well cast as Thorin Oakenshield! *sigh* I can’t wait till the next installment!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 8:44 pm.
Armitage … sigh.

1. What are you reading right now?
-Just finished “The Duchess Wars” (Brothers Sinister #1) by Courtney Milan
2. What format is it in?
-ebook.
3. How did you hear about it?
-Goodreads; everyone I know raves about Courtney Milan (and now I know why).
4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately?
-Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson. Please read it, it is painfully hilarious. There were actual moments when I was cringing yet crying tears of laughter.
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made? ?
-Maybe the Narnia ones. The Harry Potter movies came pretty close but so many interesting side-plots had to be abandoned for the movie length which albeit understandable still made me sad.
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen? -The Shelley Laurenston Pride series. They would make hilarious rom-act-coms (romantic action comedies, didjagetit)
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read?
-I only do this for the historicals, so Pierce Brosnan if the hero is Irish or Jude Law if he is English or Ewan McGregor for Scots.
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read?
Probably Kate Winslet.
So there you go… Cheers!!!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:02 pm.
Pals, Kate Winslet has a terrific historical look. In fact, so does Ewan, Jude and Pierce. Good choices!
Btw, because of you, I just bought that Courtney Milan book. I’ve read her before, but not that one. And yes, she’s rave-able.
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 4:27 pm.

4. What’s the best nonfiction book you’ve read lately? The Way of the Wise by Dr. Kevin Leman
5. What do you think is the best book-to-movie ever made? Hunt for Red October
6. What book would you like see made into a movie that you haven’t yet seen? Accidental Goddess by Lennea Sinclair.
7. What actor fits most of your visions of the heroes in the books you read? None, really. More an amalgamation of John Wayne, Dwayne Johnson, and Pierce Brosnan.
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read?
Maureen O’Hara
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 1:19 pm.
Gwyn, Madeline’s one of my auto-buys, too. Terrific books, every one. I’m looking forward to that one, especially!
And ooooh, Maureen O’Hara. I know someone who lives next door to her new house here in the US. They said she’s a lovely person. What a beauty!

1. What are you reading right now?: ONE GOOD EARL DESERVES A LOVER–Sarah MacLean
2. What format is it in?: Kindle Book

Carla, if they ever make a movie of one of my books, I’m hiring you to do the casting. Just sayin’!
Posted on February 20, 2013 at 11:36 pm.
I’m reading Heads You Lose by Lisa Lutz and it’s a library book. This month is reading month at my library. 15 books read and you get a cool book bag.
My librarian told me about it.
I loved Apolo Ohno’s Zero Regrets.
Like Water For Chocolate. I felt like the movie was better than the book even though the book was excellent.
The Goddesses of Kitchen Avenue by Barbara Samuel or It Must Be Love by Rachel Gibson would make good movies.
I tend to use sports figures because they aren’t so perfect and I don’t know prejudicial things about them. If I chose an actor it would probably Johnny Depp or Christian Vale.
Same as above with heros. If I chose an actress it would be Liv Tyler or Hilary Swank.

Wow, what a long day! I finally get to sit down for a few minutes.
1. HP Mallory’s Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble
2. Ebook
3. I heard about it on my library’s ebook site – but they have the latest book in the series, which I find odd. I got this one free with Amazon Prime.
4. Setting Stones in Metal Clay by Jeanette Landenwitch. I’ve learned some new techniques that I need to try out and soon.
5. I really liked LOTR because I think that the changes Peter Jackson made, made the films stronger.
6. I’d say Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, but the first movie is FINALLY coming out this August. I’d like to see her Infernal Devices series be made into film – Shadowhunters in Victorian England – absolutely!
7 & 8. I build my own image from the way the author describes the H/H. Although, I wouldn’t be adverse to a hero looking like Hugh Jackman, Gerad Butler, Clive Owen, Chris Helmsworth, etc. Who cares what the heroines look like when you’ve got heroes like that, lol?!

none – these are fictional characters and live only in my head and in million of other readers heads. None of the actors or models (although most of them are very yummie) can compare…
8. What actress fits most of your visions of the heroines in the books you read?
with the girls it is a bit different. I don’t think about them very much as my brain tries to deal with the hunk of a hero.
